C-Mone's indie remix

Mobo-winning hip hop artist C-Mone is about to release her first tracks since her debut album.

On Tuesday 31 March 2009 she releases a mixtape of virtual collaborations, C-Mone vs the Indie Boys.

"It's a fusion of two musics.

"I still want to connect with my hip hop foundations [but] I'm not the type of person to keep doing the same thing. I like to experiment and grow."

She's using the web to promote her new project, offering the tracks as downloads on her MySpace site.

Mercury and more

C-Mone, from St Ann's, has worked with The Streets, Moorecheeba and Groove Armarda. She was even asked to join Misteeq.

In 2006 she released her debut solo album 'The Butterfly Effect' which made the Mercury music prize long list.

"We got major feedback. People really loved it. The critics and the DJs really loved it.

"This new project is step two. Taking it up another level."

New for 2009

C-Mone says 2009 is going to be a big year.

"After this mixtape drops I'm going to be releasing more new music and then eventually in 2009 my second album."

But there's little chance she'll forget her roots. She's one of the organisers of the annual Robin Hood Chase Festival, an arts festival showcasing new talent in Nottinghamshire. It takes place in St Anns on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
