Sam, Ross, Faley and Potter formed the band in 2005 after underage trips to Nottingham's Liars Club. It's there where they could be found on the dance-floor soaking up the tunes of Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand and The Scissor Sisters. They were signed by Parlophone Records and set about recording their debut album in a country house in Nottingham. Drummer Ross, also known as Rouge Dog Consuela, says working in a bedroom recording studio has it's advantages: "We've found you can get some good recordings from some quite basic set-ups." The band split their time between Nottingham and London which helps them find inspiration as well as peace and quiet. "London is a fantastic place, it's so busy and vibrant but I guess we're country lads at the end of the day. "We're not at the house that much but when we're here it's so peaceful. When we go to London it's so exciting and inspirational, so you get the best of both worlds." Late of the Pier's 'Fantasy Black Channel' will be released on 11 August 2008. They'll be performing at Fopp on 5 August at 5pm.
