CHILDREN AND THEIR USE OF COMPUTERS AND TECHNOLOGY
The digital world in education is the theme of this special edition: a century on from blackboards and slates, we watch and consider how schools and children engage with communications technology – from PDAs to podcasts, portals to plagiarism.
Earlier this month there was a technology show called Be Very Afraid – which showcased digital projects from all over Britain. It was run by Stephen Heppell and Castle Manor Business and Enterprise College took part. Reporter, Sara Parker, went along to explore the exhibition.
Libby Purves and her guests discuss instant messaging, youTube etc; discover some interesting insights into how schools marry up the new technology with the old fashioned curriculum and exam system, and discuss the social pros and cons of all this new technology.
