At their recent conference, the talk was of excessive workload, stress, pressure, risks of failure, money worries, the threat of Ofsted, demands from government, and difficulties with parents. No wonder the problem of head teacher recruitment is growing. A recent NAHT survey suggests that there could be as many as 1,200 schools without permanent heads in post.
