Qualifying has so often proved prophetic at this circuit, with the driver on pole position going on to win the race for each of the past nine years. It was eventual world champion Jenson Button who snatched a last-gasp pole position last season, ahead of Sebastian Vettel, and both drivers have already won races in 2010.

All New Total Wipeout Ep 7/8

Saturday 8 May
5.20-6.20pm Â鶹Éç ONE

Twenty more plucky Brits head to the Argentinean capital for a madcap scramble across the world's most ridiculous obstacle course, as Richard Hammond and Amanda Byram preside over another frantic race for glory.

A rock singer, a police officer and an air sea rescue helicopter pilot are among those who line up to tackle not only the infamous Red Balls but also a brand-new challenge and one of the toughest ever to feature on the show: the Rings Of Fire. Contestants must possess a fearsome grip and exceptional monkey swing if they are to make it across all 16 rings and from one platform to another.

The rest of the course takes no prisoners either. The Super Walk Of Shame manages to outwit Alex, a potholer, who just can't help going underground, while the Sucker Punch does for Mike, a professional wrestler. But the biggest surprise of all comes when one competitor sets the fastest time to date on the Qualifier.

This week's trip to Crash Mountain is one of the fastest and most frantic ever seen, with six survivors making it through to a series debut for The Dread Mill.

The final three survivors make it to the Wipeout Zone in another tense and terrifying finale, where the result defies both gravity and logic.

I'm In A Rock 'n' Roll Band! –
The Guitarist Ep 2/6

Saturday 8 May

Â鶹Éç Two delves into the world of the Rock 'n' Roll Band

From the first time they play live, to their dying day, rock 'n' roll bands are loved by millions of people who keep a special place in their hearts for their favourite groups and musicians.

As this series continues to investigate what makes the perfect rock 'n' roll band and to dissect the traditional band line-up, Â鶹Éç Two delves into the world of the guitarist.

The documentary explores the relationship between musician and instrument – from how it's held and played, to how it can be used in the battle to steal attention away from the lead singer. It explores the aesthetics behind guitar playing and how an improvised solo can make a great hit, instantly transforming the guitarist into a musical hero, worshipped like no other member of the band.

However flamboyant the stage moves, however gaudy the get-up and however gravity-defying the hair-dos, what makes or breaks any band is written on the first line of the guitarist's job description: they need to be the ultimate riff-master.

The guitarist is often also the writer of the group and this programme highlights the constant pressure placed upon such figures to churn out the hits and investigates the impact this has on the relationships between band mates.

Narrated by Mark Radcliffe, the documentary features contributions from Jeff Beck, Johnny Marr, Mick Jones, Wilko Johnson, Slash, Tony Iommi, Richie Sambora, Lindsey Buckingham and Andy Summers, among others.

I'm In A Rock 'n' Roll Band!, a multi-platform project featured on Â鶹Éç Two, Â鶹Éç Radio 2 and bbc.co.uk, dissects the traditional band and looks at what makes each of the individual members tick. It culminates in a live studio show in June, in which industry experts discuss their favourite rock 'n' roll musicians and create the ultimate fantasy band.

Jenson Button became the sixth different winner in as many years on his way to the 2009 drivers' title. Button lapped Lewis Hamilton on his way to victory but the two Britons are now McLaren team-mates, united against the threat of Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes.

Modern Masters – Matisse Ep 2/4

Sunday 9 May
9.00-10.00pm Â鶹Éç ONE

Alastair Sooke explores the work of French artist Henri Matisse (1869-1954) and the profound influence he has had on people's perception of colour in the 20th and 21st centuries, as the modern art series looking at some of the most notable and influential artists of our time and exploring what makes them modern masters continues.

Following in the footsteps of Matisse from his origins in Northern France to his later homes on the Cote D'Azur in the south, Sooke reveals how Matisse cast aside traditional representational painting, with its emphasis on light, shade and perspective, to use a new, modern palette of vivid, bright colour that has had a deep impact on the artists and designers who came after him.

Beginning his journey in Matisse's home town of Bohain-en-Vermandois in Picardy, he visits what were once the premises of the Matisse family's seed business, where he tells the story of how the painter's mother gave him his first set of paints when he was ill in bed.

Travelling to Collioure on the Mediterranean coast, he meets up with art historian and Matisse expert Alastair Wright. Together, they visit the exact locations from which Matisse painted a range of pictures that broke the rule book of art as it stood in the early 20th century, and which were described as "wild" by critics of the day.

Sooke heads off to view two famous Matisse works. La Danse (1909), a huge canvas that remained hidden from Western view during the Cold War years, now hangs in the Hermitage in St Petersburg; and the Museum of Modern Art in New York holds the Red Studio (1911), a piece that was significant in inspiring the city's abstract expressionist painters such as Mark Rothko.

But perhaps it is the later work of Matisse that has had the most profound effect on today's world. After the Second World War, illness and a near-fatal operation restricted Matisse's ability as a painter and he was barely able to stand or hold brushes. It was then he pioneered a new technique: the cut-out.

With assistants painting squares of paper in bright colours, Matisse would cut shapes and then arrange them using a collage technique. Liberated by this approach that led to simpler, more abstract, shapes which he could arrange, Matisse created a range of work including his book Jazz (1947), his Blue Nude series (1952) and Snail (1953), the latter hanging in Tate Modern.

After seeing Matisse's cut-outs first-hand, Sooke talks to a range of designers, from fashion guru Sir Paul Smith to children's illustrator and creator of Miffy the rabbit, Dick Bruna. Both show the very specific relationship between their work and the pictures by Matisse that inspired it. Sooke also suggests that everything from Apple's iPod advertising to the Olympic 2012 logo may contain echoes of Matisse.

Alastair's journey culminates in a moving visit to the chapel in Vence in the South of France that the artist designed at the very end of his life.

High Street Dreams Ep 1/4

9.00-10.00pm Â鶹Éç ONE (Copy amended 30 April)

Jo Malone and Nick Leslau offer their expert help and advice to eight budding entrepreneurs
Jo Malone and Nick Leslau offer their expert help and advice to eight budding entrepreneurs

British businesswoman Jo Malone is set to mentor the owners of eight small businesses with big retail dreams from across Britain. Helping her is businessman Nick Leslau and, over the course of the series, they are also joined by a selection of industry experts, including Ben di Lisi, Stephen Webster and Loyd Grossman, poised to impart valuable advice from their years of experience.

Jo Malone's success story is one that can inspire any budding businessperson. Beginning her career as a beauty therapist she mixed bath oils as gifts for her clients at her kitchen table. She went on to open her first store while the country was in the depths of recession and her range of luxury fragrances, skin care and lifestyle products became a hit across the UK and around the world.

Nick Leslau is a self-made man. From shelf-stacker to market stall holder, Nick studied to become a chartered surveyor and swiftly rose through the ranks becoming, at 25, not only a millionaire but one of the youngest CEOs of a public company in the UK. He has since created a multi-billion pound property business and has also invested in many small businesses outside the property arena.

From a nationwide search, Jo and Nick have chosen eight talented individuals who have a unique and innovative product but require some expert advice to help them try to make the leap to commercial success.

The series follows the personal journeys of each contributor as they experience the highs and lows of learning what it takes to try to launch a new brand. Ultimately, if Jo and Nick feel they've proved they have what it takes to go to the next level they will be given the opportunity to pitch to their product to a high street retailer who will decide whether or not to stock the product on their already crowded shelves.

In this first episode, Jo and Nick meet two promising sets of food entrepreneurs who discover that the supermarket is a tough and highly competitive arena where the approach to securing shelf space is ruthless. However, they're convinced that a great product teamed with effective branding, traceability and heritage can catch the eye of the most demanding food buyers.

The Singh family from East London hand-produce their own chilli sauce in their garden shed. Identifying a determined family with a wonderful spirit, Jo introduces them to Loyd Grossman and, using their combined experience and expertise, they encourage the Singhs to pull together and simplify their business plan and branding.

Meanwhile, newly married couple Roland and Miranda Ballard have turned their backs on city life and moved from London to the Worcestershire countryside to live the good life, with a dream of selling premium, locally raised beef in the form of gourmet beef burgers. Jo and Nick enlist the help of William Kendal, the brains behind Green & Blacks chocolate, to help. But, unless Roland and Miranda relinquish control of their hands-on manufacturing approach and rebrand their message, Jo and Nick won't put them forward to the next stage and the opportunity of presenting their product to the supermarket buyers.

Jo and Nick both know first-hand how hard it is to succeed in a tough climate, but they show that with creativity, hard work and perhaps a bit of luck, there can be exciting possibilities available to anyone with a great product idea and some genuine talent.

High Street Dreams is simulcast on the Â鶹Éç HD channel - the Â鶹Éç's High Definition channel, available through Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media.

Great British Menu Eps 26-30/45

Monday 10 May
6.30-7.00pm Â鶹Éç TWO

Oliver Peyton, Prue Leith and Matthew Fort judge more Great British Menus
Oliver Peyton, Prue Leith and Matthew Fort judge more Great British Menus

Three of the North East's finest chefs – Kenny Atkinson (Rockliffe Hall Hotel), Tim Bilton (The Butchers Arms) and Lee Bennett (Le Pont De La Tour) – do battle in the latest heat for the chance to cook at a fabulous banquet celebrating the wealth of delicious UK produce, hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales.

With 24 chefs across eight regions, competition is fierce and they have the extra challenge of sourcing new food suppliers from a small part of their region, reflecting this year's theme of truly local produce.

The inspiration for Yorkshireman Lee Bennett's take on his county's traditional dish comes from Beningbrough Hall and Gardens near York. He meets Alastair Jackson, a tenant farmer at Beningbrough Home Farm who has more than 200 Aberdeen Angus cattle on 300 acres of land – perfect for Lee's main course of braised feather blade of beef and Yorkshire pudding with beer and onion gravy. His starter is warm pork and apple pie with chilled tomato soup, Yorkshire cheeses and homemade pickle; his fish dish is smoked trout soup with beetroot, cucumber and oyster nuggets; and his dessert is brandy snap with cider brandy cream, basil sorbet and summer fruits.

Tim Bilton sources his ingredients from Fountains Abbey and the surrounding area in north Yorkshire, finding great venison and rabbits on the estate. He uses these for his starter of wild rabbit with a baby leaf salad, black pudding, crispy quail's egg, broad beans and a shot of real ale, and his main course of venison three ways with English garden vegetables. His menu also includes pickled shellfish and wood-smoked crispy prawns; and a "best of British" dessert plate of bread and butter pudding, rhubarb and custard, curd tart and strawberries and cream.

Kenny Atkinson is keen on serving wild rabbit with ham hock, carrots, asparagus and morels as his starter. He heads for the Wallington Estate to meet tenant farmer Simon Bainbridge, who will be able to help him with some good quality ham hocks. He then meets James Brown who works on the estate, to ask if he is able to supply fresh rabbits. Kenny's menu also includes line-caught North Sea mackerel with gooseberries; roe deer with beetroot, cauliflower and sage; and strawberry jelly crumble with elderflower custard.

Veteran chef Nigel Howarth judges the dishes, awarding marks out of 10 for taste and technical ability. The chef with the lowest total score on Thursday leaves the competition, with the two remaining chefs cooking for the Great British Menu judges – Oliver Peyton, Prue Leith and Matthew Fort – on Friday.

Alongside courgettes, squash and kale, Alys grows Jerusalem artichokes to harvest while the rest of the garden sleeps. She also learns how to preserve the flavours of her garden, using simple pickling recipes, before foraging for seeds in the "wild larder" and planting up winter crops to tide her over until next spring.

Interior designer Kathryn Rayward and antiques expert Mark Hill create a contemporary living space as they wrap up their mission to prove that people can add style and glamour to their homes by investing in antique, vintage and retro furnishings – without breaking the bank.

Mark and Kathryn guide novice second-hand shoppers Roy and Katie Allaway through the dos and don'ts of buying old, helping them create a unique room in the process.

Roy, Katie and their young children have their hearts set on a retro interior to suit their Fifties bungalow. "Mid-century modern", as it's known, is very fashionable and highly desirable, but on the high street it comes at a price. Mark and Kathryn help the couple create a cool, contemporary living space with vintage pieces that will hold their value and cost a lot less than the mass-produced options on the high street.

Also in the programme, Mark gives his expert advice on more items to invest in now – Edwardian furniture and hand-painted period porcelain, both of which he believes will go up in value in the future. Kathryn, meanwhile, transforms a retro sideboard with a spot of paint and some simple customisation.

Autistic Superstars Ep 1/2

New series
Thursday 13 May
9.00-10.00pm Â鶹Éç THREE (Title change 23 April)

Autistic Superstars, a two-part documentary series with a unique event at its heart, follows a group of young autistic people with a passion for music, as they prepare for what could be the biggest night of their lives.

Fronted by Reggie Yates, the documentaries follow a cast of young people aged between 11 and 23 during the build up to a one-off performance.

The first film will introduce the cast from the UK and US, revealing their established or untapped talent. Through the build up, training and mentoring for the public event, the film will reveal the hurdles, conflicts and personal triumphs faced by these young people, and the professionals and relatives that care for them, as they prepare for the big night.

These young people from across the autistic spectrum have exceptional musical talents but, behind the stage curtain, everyday life poses many challenges for them and their families. Creative expression helps give them more freedom to communicate with the world around them.

The documentary offers an insight into the lives of each cast member, revealing their daily struggles and triumphs, and helping to shed light on a condition that affects more than 500,000 people in Britain.

The event is an opportunity for young, autistic people to show their talent and creativity on a high-profile stage, in an atmosphere that is sensitive to their condition.

This programme is part of a ground-breaking series of films about young people with autism. These warm and insightful programmes explore the complex lives of these young people as well as the challenges they face.
