Everything's Rosie

From Bank Holiday Monday 3 May on CBEEBIES

Everything's rosy in the Moran household as father and daughter join forces as part of the team behind CBeebies' newest animation, Everything's Rosie.

As one of the country's leading musicians and composers – and a former Eurovision entrant for the UK – Mike Moran has composed the original soundtrack for all 26 episodes, and his daughter, Harriet, is the voice of the series heroine, Rosie.

Since graduating from London's Royal College of Music, Mike has had a distinguished career in many different areas of the music business. As a keyboard player, arranger, musical director and producer, he has worked with many of the world's musical superstars, from Sir Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder to Paul Simon and Russell Watson; his film composition credits include Time Bandits and The Missionary; and he's composed for more than 100 television shows, including the title music for New Tricks.

But it was his songwriting collaboration with Lynsey de Paul in 1977 that led Mike to the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song, Rock Bottom, became a Top 20 hit across Europe, and the duo came second in the competition, beaten only by the French entrant, Marie Myriam, in front of the home crowd at Wembley.

Mike later went on to work with the late Freddie Mercury and their major collaboration was the album Barcelona, featuring Montserrat Caballe and Freddie together, which went on to become the anthem for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Meanwhile, daughter Harriet is just starting out in the business but was recognised by the team for her musical talents too – as well as voicing lead character Rosie, she also sings the theme song!
