There could be a medal rush for British swimmers today. England's Fran Halsall should feature in the Women's 50m Freestyle while the Women's 400m Freestyle should see the likes of Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington and Beijing bronze medallist Jo Jackson swimming in England's colours – Scotland's Caitlin McClatchey is the defending champion.

England's Lizzie Simmonds will be looking to add the Commonwealth title to the European crown in the Women's 200m Backstroke, where her rivals should include teammate Gemma Spoffarth.

In the women's 100m Breaststroke, Australia's Leisel Jones will be aiming to supplement her extensive collection of Commonwealth gold medals, which numbered seven going into these Games. England's Liam Tancock should feature in the men's equivalent.

And Welsh swimmer and Paralympic legend David Roberts will be competing in the Men's S8 100m Freestyle, hoping to add the bronze medals he won in both Manchester in 2002 and Melbourne in 2006.

Brian Lane (Alun Armstrong), aka new Twitter star TopCop999

The team reinvestigate the death of celebrated graffiti artist Danny "Flak" Tyler when graffiti claiming "I Killed Flak" starts appearing in different London locations – including where Danny's body was found four years ago, as the drama following a team of ex-policeman brought out of retirement to investigate unsolved cases from the past continues.

Originally part of graffiti gang the Maze Crew, Danny went solo, hitting the big time when wealthy art patron Sir David Bryant decided to support his work. Danny's departure from the Maze Crew and his subsequent success caused tensions within the gang which led to them disbanding shortly after he left. But could one of the gang have held a big enough grudge to have killed him?

Pullman and Halford visit Sara Hamlyn's gallery where she is holding a retrospective exhibition of Danny's work. His death has sent prices for his canvases rocketing with individual pieces fetching more than £200,000. Sir David Bryant appears to have been his greatest investor, but recent financial problems have forced him to sell all but two of Danny's works. Every picture tells a story and it is Danny's elusive final painting which could provide the team with the answer to his death.

Meanwhile, Brian Lane proves you're never too old to "tweet" when he embraces the popular phenomenon of social networking via Twitter. Giving himself the unlikely tag of TopCop999, he keeps his followers up to date with regular instalments on the life of a gritty detective. However, TopCop999's latest hobby isn't going down well in the office.

The final day of action in track cycling begins with the women's Individual Pursuit. Northern Ireland's Wendy Houvenhaghel won Olympic silver in Beijing two years ago and a gold in Delhi would atone for her disappointment at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, when she was disqualified in this event. Competing for England will be multiple Paralympic champion Sarah Storey.

Scotland will be trying to defend their men's Team Sprint title before the cycling competition at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex closes with the men's Scratch race, in which Mark Cavendish so memorably won the Isle of Man's first Commonwealth cycling gold four years ago.

To mark National Poetry Day on 7 October, Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson star in a powerful and visually arresting film, The Song Of Lunch.

A dramatisation of Christopher Reid's narrative poem, the film tells the story of an unnamed book editor (Rickman) who, 15 years after their break-up, is meeting his former love (Thompson) for a nostalgic lunch at the Soho restaurant they used to frequent.

She is now living a glamorous life in Paris, married to a world-renowned writer, whilst he has failed in his writing career, detests his mundane publishing job, and regrets the end of their love affair.

When he arrives at the restaurant he finds it under new management and much changed, and this seems to fuel his resentment about growing older and being left behind. The stage is set for an emotional and bittersweet reunion. As the wine flows, and the couple rake over their failed relationship, nostalgia turns to recrimination.

Justin Currie, Chris Difford and Boo Hewerdine are this week's featured artists as Â鶹Éç Four continues to combine great singer-songwriters for unique concerts celebrating the craft of the song, in a month-long celebration of the singer-songwriter.

Filmed at Bush Hall on Uxbridge Road in West London, these special concerts see three singer-songwriters perform their classic songs in turn, while helping each other out musically with harmonies and the odd guitar part. The artists only meet an hour or two before going onstage and, in between performances, take viewers inside their work, chatting about their songs, their history and background.

This week's songwriters – Justin Currie, formerly of Del Amitri, who wrote hits including Nothing Ever Happens; Chris Difford, who mixes his solo work with Squeeze hits such as Up The Junction; and Boo Hewerdine, formerly of The Bible and perhaps best known for writing Patience Of Angels for Eddi Reader – compare notes on songwriting, life after Top Of The Pops and the male menopause.

The concerts provide an intimate evening with some of the world's best singer-songwriters and some well-loved songs.

Songwriters' Circle is part of Â鶹Éç Four's month-long celebration of the singer-songwriter. Programming also includes Singer-Songwriters At The Â鶹Éç, four hour-long episodes exploring a rich vein of Â鶹Éç archive singer-songwriter performances – including Neil Diamond, Elton John and Billy Joel – which transmits alongside Songwriters' Circle on Friday evenings. The channel also features a series of classic In Concert performances from the early Seventies, featuring James Taylor, Carole King, Neil Young and Cat Stevens; plus recent concerts by the likes of James Taylor, Carole King and Leonard Cohen.
