Jill Douglas presents highlights of today's road cycling world championships from Melbourne, Australia.
The women's road race course is a gruelling 127.2km long and provides a real test of the cyclists' abilities as they power round the streets of Geelong. Great Britain's team is spearheaded by Olympic champion Nicole Cooke and an in-form Emma Pooley. They are ably assisted by three more riders out of a squad of Lizzie Armitstead, Katie Colclough, Sharon Laws, Lucy Martin and Catherine Williamson. Last year's event, in Switzerland, was won by Italy's Tatiana Guderzo.

Merlin and Arthur find themselves vastly outnumbered in a tavern brawl, but an enigmatic young man helps them to victory, as the fantasy drama continues.
The stranger, Gwaine, risks his life to protect the Prince and is seriously wounded in the process. Arthur takes him back to Camelot where he quickly makes a recovery and gets to work: drinking, charming the ladies and causing trouble for Merlin – who has been charged with looking after him.
But when what appears to be two unscrupulous knights try to kill the Prince, can Merlin and the inscrutable stranger stop them before it is too late?
Merlin is played by Colin Morgan, Arthur by Bradley James and Gwaine by Eoin Macken.

Strictly Come Dancing
While seven of the couples can breathe a sigh of relief, for seven more, their nerves will be tested as they take to the floor and face the panel of judges for the first time, in the first live Saturday show of the celebrity dance competition.
Viewers can discover who presenter Bruce Forsyth picks as his favourite and whether tonight is the first time head judge Len Goodman awards one of his "sevens". As the first leader board is completed, who's hot to trot – and who needs to trot a little faster – will be revealed.
Also on tonight’s show pop superstars Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow take to the floor to perform their new duet, Shame.

It's all hands on deck when the Emergency Department faces its cleanliness inspection and the team's first battle in their campaign to impress the powers that be, as the medical drama continues. Unfortunately for Lenny he has his mind on other things – namely the gorgeous Chrissie – so he's late for work and neglecting his duties, incurring Jordan's wrath.
In preparation for the cleanliness inspection, Tess assigns the whole team cleaning duties. Everyone is even more nervous when they hear the inspector is the terrifying "Big Don". Lenny is late for work again after spending the night with Chrissie, so Jordan puts him in charge of cleaning resus. However, Lenny is distracted when Chrissie visits him at work. Not only does he forget to clean up resus, but he also loses Lorretta, an elderly Alzheimer's patient. Her husband Roy and daughter Helen are distraught. On top of that Lenny might have just lost them the bacteriology award...
Meanwhile, Adam and Kirsty come to blows when they disagree on how to handle an unco-operative patient who believes he's dead. Kirsty thinks that by playing up to his delusions is the answer, so she enlists Yuki and Mads to help out. Crucially, while treating him, Yuki discovers that Adam's diagnosis was wrong; has his insight saved the day?
For a moment, things seem to be on the up, until Holby receives more negative press regarding the day's events. Henry is furious – they must have a mole leaking information. Lenny is disturbed when he recognises the reporter's name.

Michael McIntyre continues his Comedy Roadshow with a visit to the Grand Theatre in Blackpool. Headlining is brilliant Liverpudlian comic John Bishop with guest turns from Justin Moorhouse, Miles Jupp and Terry Alderton.
Blackpool is the third location on Michael's travels around the UK in which he visits six of the most prestigious live theatre venues to unearth a raft of comedy's brightest new talent and finest comedians.

Gary Lineker presents highlights from today's Premier League matches, including the clash between Sunderland and Manchester United.
The Red Devils are desperate to get their hands on the Premier League trophy they surrendered to Chelsea last year, but the Stadium of Light is always a difficult place to go to and Black Cats manager Steve Bruce invested heavily in his squad again this summer. Bruce was a legend during his playing days at Old Trafford, yet since becoming a manager he has failed to get one over on his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson in 15 attempts.
West Ham faced their second successive London derby as they entertained Fulham at Upton Park, while there was an intriguing match-up across the capital at White Hart Lane as Tottenham took on Aston Villa. Everton had a difficult game away at Birmingham, as did Blackburn Rovers, who travelled to Stoke. Elsewhere, Wigan played Wolves and West Brom met Bolton.

Naomi Wilkinson and Steve Backshall limber up for an action-packed show this week as the Live 'n' Deadly trucks roll into the North West. Sebastien Foucan shows off his expert free-running skills and the programme also follows a group of parkour fanatics who demonstrate their agility in the woods.
There are more animal antics as Naomi finds out whether swans are cute or deadly and the audience is tasked with trying to build a beaver dam. Delving deep, the programme goes pond dipping and aims to find out what deadly creatures might be lurking at the bottom of local ponds. Plus Steve gets to spend the night up one of the tallest trees in Britain.
The fun does not stop after the show has ended. On Sunday, Steve will be visiting Liverpool for the Deadly Day Out, giving viewers the chance to get up close and personal with British wildlife, try out a new outdoor adventure and see Steve and his motley collection of Deadly animals.

The RIBA Stirling Prize 2010 – A Culture Show Special
This Culture Show special comes live from the Roundhouse in London where Kevin McCloud fronts the biggest event in the architectural calendar – the announcement of the Royal Institute of British Architects' Stirling Prize.
Now in its 15th year, the RIBA Stirling Prize is the UK's most prestigious architecture prize and is awarded to the best new European building "built or designed in Britain". This year's shortlisted buildings are: Bateman's Row, a mixed-use development in East London by architects Theis and Khan; two schools: Christ's College School, Guildford, designed by DSDHA, and Clapham Manor School, by dRMM; and three museums: the Ashmolean in Oxford by Rick Mather Architects, Maxxi National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome by Zaha Hadid and the Neues Museum in Berlin by David Chipperfield Architects with Julian Harrap Architects.
Architectural critic Tom Dyckhoff presents brief films about each of the shortlisted buildings; puts their different styles into context by explaining how each building relates to the principles of modernism; and looks back at the history of the Stirling Prize. During the live event, Kevin McCloud talks to the Stirling Prize judges about their thoughts on all six of the shortlisted buildings, and Ruth Reed, RIBA president, announces the winner of this year's Stirling Prize.

Hazel Irvine presents highlights of day two of the 38th Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor.
The USA and Europe went into the second day facing another tense order of play of Foursomes in the morning and Fourballs in the afternoon. Europe have traditionally found some strong pairings in these formats and team captain Colin Montgomerie will be desperate for a good showing ahead of Sunday's decisive singles.
In Valhalla two years ago, Europe managed to pick up four-and-a-half points on Saturday but it proved to be in vain as the Americans went on to cruise to a resounding victory.

Commonwealth Games 2010 – Opening Ceremony
Sue Barker introduces live coverage of the Opening Ceremony from Delhi's 60,000-seater Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium as the 19th Commonwealth Games gets under way in spectacular style. Athletes from 71 nations across the globe will be taking part in these Games over the next 11 days and, with India playing host for the first time, it promises to be a spectacular and colourful curtain-raiser to the competition proper.
One of the great traditions of the Commonwealth Games is the Queen's Baton Relay, which began almost a year ago at Buckingham Palace and will have covered almost 120,000 miles and passed through many thousands of hands by the time its journey ends during the course of tonight's ceremony.
The commentators are Huw Edwards, Steve Cram and Tinku Ray.

MotoGP – Motegi Grand Prix
Jennie Gow introduces round 14 of the MotoGP season, live from Motegi in Japan.
This race was originally scheduled for April, but because the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcanic eruption stopped international air travel, the race was postponed.
With only four rounds to go after this race, Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo will be hoping to gain as many points as he can. He triumphed at the circuit last year and another victory this time round will see him edge closer to a maiden world title.

The year is 1966 and the football World Cup has come to England, in the second episode of the crime drama starring Martin Shaw as old-school detective Inspector George Gently, written by Jimmy Gardner.
With the USSR due to play at Roker Park and the fear of the "Reds under the bed" exemplified by the upcoming Polaris submarine landing at the nearby Jarrow docks, tensions are running high.
CND protestors, led by radical students from Durham University, are the last thing the police need when the world media is on their doorstep awaiting the upcoming football match.
Gently and Bacchus investigate the murder of well-known left-wing academic Fraser Barratt, found dead in the docks after a CND rally which he had led with his colleague, lecturer Mallory Brown.
This takes them onto the Durham University campus – an ancient temple of learning struggling to come to terms with the varied influx of students from the working class to brash, radical academics. Here they meet university caretaker and ex-army officer Charles Hoxton as well as sexually forward-thinking students Elizabeth Higgs and Adriana Doyle.
Sexual and social rebellion is in the air and, to the young and optimistic, these forces seem inevitable and unstoppable. Bacchus is horrified yet fascinated by the promiscuity on display. Gently more shrewdly recognises that liberation is not always an unmixed blessing...

Jill Douglas presents highlights of today's road cycling World Championships from Australia.
The men's road race saw the field compete over a 262.7km course from Melbourne to Geelong. Great Britain's team is only three strong, so David Millar and Jeremy Hunt will have their work cut out to assist Mark Cavendish in his bid for glory.
The 15-times Tour de France stage winner is aiming to become only the second Briton, after Tommy Simpson in 1965, to win this event. He faces stiff competition from last year's winner, Cadel Evans, and the Australian will be cheered on by a partisan home crowd.

Tanya Arnold presents highlights of the Super League Grand Final.
A full house is expected at Old Trafford to see who will lift the trophy after another gruelling league season. Leeds Rhinos' unprecedented run of success has seen them emerge victorious in the last three years, beating St Helens on each occasion.
Last year's final was a thrilling affair, with Lee Smith's two tries proving to be just enough to see off the unlucky Saints. Wigan won the League Leaders' Shield for finishing top of the league in the regular season but, as St Helens know more than anyone, that's no guarantee of success when it comes to Grand Final glory.

A tense day was in store as Europe's captain Colin Montgomerie sent all 12 of his players out to go head-to-head with their American counterparts.
The USA crushed Europe in Valhalla two years ago, winning seven singles matches to secure a 16½ to 11½ victory. But the Europeans have not lost on home soil since 1993 and boast a side bang in form.
The likes of Miguel Angel Jimenez, Ross Fisher, Peter Hanson, Martin Kaymer and Edoardo Molinari have all won events since the start of August and are favourites to win back the trophy.

Colin Murray introduces highlights of the day's three Premier League games.
The early kick-off saw big-spending Manchester City host newly-promoted Newcastle United. The last time the two sides clashed in the Premier League saw City win 2-1 at home in 2008, but much has changed for both clubs since then.
The millions pumped into City have given them a squad to compare with any team in the Premier League. They will be confident of earning three points against a Newcastle side still settling back in the big time after a year in the Championship.
Another newly promoted club, Blackpool, will be licking their lips in anticipation of getting the chance to play against Liverpool at Anfield. They haven't played in front of the Kop since January 1971, when they managed a creditable 2-2 draw. Liverpool struggled against the so called "lesser teams" last season and will be keen to rectify that as they look to get back into the Champions League.
The day's third game is a mouth-watering clash between champions Chelsea and their London rivals Arsenal. The Blues crushed the Gunners in both fixtures between the sides last season and won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in February. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger must work out a way of dealing with Didier Drogba after the Chelsea striker scored four goals against his team last term.

Scotland's David Carry is the defending champion in the Men's 400m Freestyle but Welsh star David Davies will fancy his chances of improving on his bronze of four years ago.
Scotland's Hannah Miley goes in the Women's 200m Individual Medley and her chances have been boosted by the absence of Australian Olympic champion Stephanie Rice, who is injured and so unable to defend her Commonwealth title. But Australia are traditionally strong in this event – they swept gold, silver and bronze in Melbourne – and they could have a ready-made replacement in teenage swimming sensation Emily Seebohm.

John Inverdale introduces the latest action from Delhi, including India versus Scotland in the women's hockey.
Hosts India await Scotland in their opening match in Pool A – a real test for the Scots in front of thousands of fanatical Indian supporters. Scotland's women came a creditable fifth at the 2006 Commonwealth Games but they could not have asked for a much tougher start, facing a side 10 places above them in the world rankings.
England's netballers begin their Commonwealth campaign against Barbados. England won bronze in Melbourne four years ago and a good start in Delhi will give them valuable momentum in their quest to challenge Australia and New Zealand, the two big guns of the sport.
There's also gymnastics action from the Men's Artistic Team Final. The home nations go for gold with four gymnasts competing for each country. England, Scotland and Wales have all won gymnastics medals at the Commonwealth Games and have more medal chances here at the Indira Ghandi Sport Complex in Delhi, but Canada and Australia pose the strongest threats.

When word gets out that the Azakstan Freedom Front (AFF) is searching for a lethal outlawed nerve agent called Paroxocybin, Harry Pearce sends Lucas North to help the Russians stop them, as the tense spy drama continues.
Lucas and FSB officer Viktor Barenshik succeed in destroying the sample, but Lucas is shocked when the AFF members are mercilessly killed by the Russian agents. Back in London, Section D become aware of a member of the AFF, Aibek, who has got away; leading Harry to make the controversial decision to let him run.
Section D soon get intelligence that Aibek is on his way to London in search of a second sample of Paroxocybin held by British scientist Stephen Kirby. As Aibek arrives in the capital he is picked up by the team who realise that Harry's earlier decision could have terrifying consequences for national security. While trying to locate Aibek they are led to Kirkby's office, but it's too late; they find Kirby alone and beaten.
Lucas, Beth and Viktor follow Aibek's trail through London, desperate to get to him before he finds the Paroxocybin. Meanwhile, Viktor's behaviour exposes him as untrustworthy and it's soon clear that he has his own plans for the nerve gas.
With time running out, the team have to work quickly before London becomes victim to a biological weapon that has the potential to wipe out the entire city in hours.

Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes presents highlights of the Equestrian World Games from Kentucky.
Great Britain sent a team that is so full of talent that they could afford to leave 2009 Badminton and Burghley winner Oliver Townend out of the squad. Former world No. 1, Pippa Funnell, is picked for the first time since 2005 and she joins fellow Olympians William Fox-Pitt, Mary King and Tina Cook on the six-strong team, with Piggy French and Nicola Wilson completing the group. Zara Phillips won individual gold for Great Britain on her horse Toytown at the last Games in Germany in 2006.

Co-written by Harry and Paul this new Â鶹Éç Two series includes appearances from other distinguished comedy heroes such as Charlie Higson, Lenny Henry, Simon Day, Peter Richardson and Timothy West.
Look out for The Benefits, a South London dysfunctional family who create havoc wherever they go; Gabbatore, a corrupt Italian politician and his straight-faced translator; Gerald, the Forties drunkard who gets into homicidal scrapes; Mike Noughts, who might or might not be a top modelling agent; Parking Pataweyo, everyone's favourite parking warden; and the ageing Silver-Haired Beatles.
This week sees a return to the Seventies for On The Tardis; Parking Pataweyo breaks all records in a high-speed ticket-issuing stunt; two former football legends get thoroughly confused by a female sports presenter; and The Beatles record a single for the cancer charity Prost Aid.

This week, Jane Moore and the Hairy Bikers join Dave on the panel to judge ideas pitched by the studio audience, and distinguish between the brilliant and the bizarre.
Among the proposals are a magnet-powered car; edible sticky tape to mend broken food; a table-top cow to ensure a never-ending supply of milk; and a colour co-ordinated supermarket for the more organised shopping experience. The judges even put one invention to the test, donning their very own pairs of inflatable underpants in an attempt to decide whether this creation is, or isn't, Genius.

Stevie wakes up in the arms of an unusual stranger, in the latest omnibus edition of the online EastEnders spin-off series.
Meanwhile, Naz tries to avoid confrontation but when she turns up at Sol's rehearsal things go a little pear-shaped, to say the least...
Elsewhere, Stevie resorts to drastic measures to get Naz and Sol together, while a desperate Asher tries his dodgy dealing down the market.

It's a Sunday and Becky and Steve are bored, as the 20-somethings comedy continues.
Their fridge is broken and Becky's parents are coming round to fix it. But Steve's never met them before and he's terrified. When they arrive, he's over-friendly and frankly a bit odd. Stationed in their impressive home base, The Octopod, The Octonauts are ready to dive into action whenever there is trouble underwater. Using their fleet of aquatic vehicles they rescue sea creatures, explore new underwater worlds and triumphantly save the oceans from danger – all in a day's rather wet work.

Captain Barnacles is the heroic leader and strategic thinker of the Octonauts. An expert in piloting ships and subs, he's a bear of action, never fearing to rush in where there's trouble. He's ably assisted by Lieutenant Kwazii – a daredevil pirate cat with a mysterious past – and Medic Peso Penguin, a brave bird with a big heart and extremely fast flippers.
Together with Engineer Tweak Bunny, researcher Dr Shellington Sea Otter, photographer Dashi Dog, Professor Inkling Octopus and an adorable bunch of half-animal, half-vegetable creatures called The Vegimals, this team of aquatic aces keep trouble at bay as they scour the seven seas.
But they couldn't do it without the help of their extraordinary range of striking submersibles. From the technological comfort of the vast mission-planning base, The Octopod, to the speed of the fish first-aid ambulance, Gup-E, the Octonauts are never without a suitable vehicle for a mission. Meanwhile, Sacha realises he's upset Jac after making her feel like a laughing stock a couple of weeks ago. He teams up with Donna to prove he's sorry. Finally, Frank meets Alex Ntung, a refugee from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who was forced to work as a child spy and went on to set up an organization campaigning against the use of child soldiers.

Michael Wood's Story Of England – The Great Famine And The Black Death Ep 3/6
Historian Michael Wood continues his fascinating tale of one place through the whole of English history, reaching the catastrophic 14th century when the village of Kibworth, Leicestershire, was twice visited by disaster, first by famine and then the Black Death.
Helped by today's villagers – field walking and reading historical texts – and by local schoolchildren digging archaeological test pits, Michael follows the stories of individuals who lived through these times.
Recounting the terrible hardship caused by the disastrous harvests of the little ice age, Michael learns of the resilience of the Kibworth peasant folk as they relied on their knowledge of the land to feed themselves during the worst famine in European history.
But, as the village recovered into the mid 14th-century, disaster struck again in the form of the Black Death. Visiting the astonishing village archive at Merton College, Oxford, Michael discovers how whole generations were wiped out, including two thirds of the village population of Harcourt – the highest losses caused by the plague known in Britain.
From these catastrophic events came mass revolt, bringing an end to the feudal age and a change between rulers and the ruled. The people of Kibworth were on the way to becoming modern people.

Stacey Dooley, one of the stars of the hit Â鶹Éç Three series, Blood, Sweat And T-Shirts and her spin-off show Stacey Dooley Investigates, returns with a new moving and insightful documentary exploring the issue of child exploitation: child soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
An estimated 30,000 children have been used as soldiers during the 14-year conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo and no one knows how many thousands are still in the forests, enslaved by armed militias. With the help of local charity workers, Stacey meets children who have been soldiers and hears their personal accounts of what life as a child soldier entailed. She visits a rescue centre where boys and girls arrive daily, rescued from guerrilla militia units as well as the Congolese National Army.
Stacey meets other boy soldiers and hears their terrifying experiences first hand. Accompanying a local charity she goes to a frontline Congolese National Army camp where she witnesses the rescue of two boys. With the charity, she takes one boy home and he's reunited with his family, from whom he was stolen more than eight years ago.
Through Stacey's journey, viewers witness the terrifying complexities of war where young kids have been separated physically and emotionally from their law-abiding families.

There could be a medal rush for British swimmers today. England's Fran Halsall should feature in the Women's 50m Freestyle while the Women's 400m Freestyle should see the likes of Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington and Beijing bronze medallist Jo Jackson swimming in England's colours – Scotland's Caitlin McClatchey is the defending champion.
England's Lizzie Simmonds will be looking to add the Commonwealth title to the European crown in the Women's 200m Backstroke, where her rivals should include teammate Gemma Spoffarth.
In the women's 100m Breaststroke, Australia's Leisel Jones will be aiming to supplement her extensive collection of Commonwealth gold medals, which numbered seven going into these Games. England's Liam Tancock should feature in the men's equivalent.
And Welsh swimmer and Paralympic legend David Roberts will be competing in the Men's S8 100m Freestyle, hoping to add the bronze medals he won in both Manchester in 2002 and Melbourne in 2006.

The team reinvestigate the death of celebrated graffiti artist Danny "Flak" Tyler when graffiti claiming "I Killed Flak" starts appearing in different London locations – including where Danny's body was found four years ago, as the drama following a team of ex-policeman brought out of retirement to investigate unsolved cases from the past continues.
Originally part of graffiti gang the Maze Crew, Danny went solo, hitting the big time when wealthy art patron Sir David Bryant decided to support his work. Danny's departure from the Maze Crew and his subsequent success caused tensions within the gang which led to them disbanding shortly after he left. But could one of the gang have held a big enough grudge to have killed him?
Pullman and Halford visit Sara Hamlyn's gallery where she is holding a retrospective exhibition of Danny's work. His death has sent prices for his canvases rocketing with individual pieces fetching more than £200,000. Sir David Bryant appears to have been his greatest investor, but recent financial problems have forced him to sell all but two of Danny's works. Every picture tells a story and it is Danny's elusive final painting which could provide the team with the answer to his death.
Meanwhile, Brian Lane proves you're never too old to "tweet" when he embraces the popular phenomenon of social networking via Twitter. Giving himself the unlikely tag of TopCop999, he keeps his followers up to date with regular instalments on the life of a gritty detective. However, TopCop999's latest hobby isn't going down well in the office.

The final day of action in track cycling begins with the women's Individual Pursuit. Competing for England will be multiple Paralympic champion Sarah Storey.

Justin Currie, Chris Difford and Boo Hewerdine are this week's featured artists as Â鶹Éç Four continues to combine great singer-songwriters for unique concerts celebrating the craft of the song, in a month-long celebration of the singer-songwriter.
Filmed at Bush Hall on Uxbridge Road in West London, these special concerts see three singer-songwriters perform their classic songs in turn, while helping each other out musically with harmonies and the odd guitar part. The artists only meet an hour or two before going onstage and, in between performances, take viewers inside their work, chatting about their songs, their history and background.
This week's songwriters – Justin Currie, formerly of Del Amitri, who wrote hits including Nothing Ever Happens; Chris Difford, who mixes his solo work with Squeeze hits such as Up The Junction; and Boo Hewerdine, formerly of The Bible and perhaps best known for writing Patience Of Angels for Eddi Reader – compare notes on songwriting, life after Top Of The Pops and the male menopause.
The concerts provide an intimate evening with some of the world's best singer-songwriters and some well-loved songs.
Songwriters' Circle is part of Â鶹Éç Four's month-long celebration of the singer-songwriter. Programming also includes Singer-Songwriters At The Â鶹Éç, four hour-long episodes exploring a rich vein of Â鶹Éç archive singer-songwriter performances – including Neil Diamond, Elton John and Billy Joel – which transmits alongside Songwriters' Circle on Friday evenings. The channel also features a series of classic In Concert performances from the early Seventies, featuring James Taylor, Carole King, Neil Young and Cat Stevens; plus recent concerts by the likes of James Taylor, Carole King and Leonard Cohen.
