James Lewis
James started out with a trial placement at a local auction house in Nottingham and fell in love with the trade. He progressed from there to Christie鈥檚, and finally to running his own saleroom in Derbyshire.

James was born in London in 1972 and although being brought up in an environment dominated in the sciences, he chose a different path into the world of art and antiques.

James studied a degree in fine art and auctioneering at Southampton before commencing his career briefly in London before joining leading provincial firm Neales of Nottingham in 1993. He is the founder and Director of Bamfords Auctioneers and Valuers. As an auctioneer James has a reputation for amusing the crowds whilst achieving great results; in doing so won UK top auctioneer 2 years in a row.
His long-running television career started with the hit 麻豆社 show Flog It in 2002. He has also worked on Bargain Hunt, Cash in the Attic, Trade Secrets, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is and the BAFTA winning Antiques Road Trip. His most recent role sees him taking a more serious path in broadcasting with the excellent documentary Treasures of the Sikh Nation.
When not on the rostrum or appearing on Flog It!, James can be found indulging his love of rugby and continuing his love of animals, by campaigning on behalf of animal charities. He has driven vans across Europe to collect lions, orangutans and bears and transported them on mammoth journeys to Shamwari in South Africa and Malawi.
