27 years after the release of their debut single ‘Suicide Alley’, the Manic Street Preachers have overcome the disappearance of founder member Richey Edwards to become one of Britain’s best loved bands. From the buzzsaw guitars of ‘Generation Terrorists’ to their commercial breakthrough ‘Everything Must Go’ via the unrelenting nihilism of ‘The Holy Bible’ and 2010’s euphoric ‘Postcards From A Young Man’, the Manics have constantly reinvented themselves, finding new ways to fuse their emotive, intelligent lyrics with powerful tunes. Frontman James has also recently turned 6 Music DJ, sitting in for Stuart Maconie on the Freak Zone. Returning after a two year break from live shows, and promising hits from their vast back catalogue as well as brand new material from their eleventh album ‘Rewind The Film’, their Maida Vale show should be very special indeed.
