Techno titans bring bleeps and beats to Maida Vale
Responsible for some of the biggest dance anthems of the past two decades, it’s often forgotten that Underworld actually formed from the ashes of 80s art rock combo Freur.
Swapping guitars for glow sticks, the duo of Rick Smith and Karl Hyde have gone on to become one of the pioneering forces in UK techno, with a string of hit singles and stunning live performances leaving festivals shaking in the wake.
Since the release of their last album 'Barking' in 2010, both Rick and Karl have released solo LPs and worked with long-time collaborator Danny Boyle to direct the music for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics. Karl even found time to stand in for Jarvis Cocker on 6 Music for a series of live radio shows – what a busy man!
As the band regroup to celebrate twenty years of their techno masterpiece 'Dubnobasswithmyheadman' - featuring 'Dark and Long' and live favourite 'Cowgirl' - the band bring their spectacular live show to Maida Vale for a very special early morning rave.
