Trevor: So Salford off to Wembley. Great comeback but how does it feel to get there again but you can’t go? Awful!

Richard: Really sorry we won’t be able to go to Wembley this year for the Challenge Cup - Leeds v Salford will be great.

Gavin: Well in Salford! Two major finals in two years is an incredible achievement! I won't mention how long they led this match for...

Neil: What a win by Salford. Ian Watson has reached two finals on the bounce. He's a miracle worker.

Mark: Great result Salford. Great finish to the game. Weather had a big impact on both teams at times but very entertaining.

Nick: Great afternoon of Challenge Cup rugby league in terrible weather. Well done to all 4 teams.

Salford head coach Ian Watson told Â鶹Éç Sport:

"It is outstanding. The boys were fantastic. The amount of pressure we had to stand to win shows the character of the group.

"We said at half-time, that score doesn't worry me, we just need to be more patience and turn the field position around.

"It's the resilience of the boys is phenomenal."

  4. 'They handled the conditions better'published at 18:57 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    FT: Salford 24-22 Warrington

Warrington head coach Steve Price told Â鶹Éç Sport:

"Our execution was the difference. They handled the conditions better.

"We just weren't hitting the mark today. We went 18 in front and were in control but credit to Salford I thought they were the better team today."

  5. 'The conditions played their part'published at 18:54 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

    FT: Salford 24-22 Warrington

Salford stand-off Kevin Brown told Â鶹Éç Sport:

"The conditions played a big part for us. We spoke about resilience and hanging in there and we had to have that in bucket loads.

"If you try and play pretty in this you get beaten. We were trying to build patience, it took 75 minutes but we got there.

"We wanted the rain and mud. They have some fantastic players so it was a leveller."

What a journey it's been for Ian Watson's side. One of the nicest guys in sport. Credit to him and his Salford side.

Just over a minute remains and Warrington have the ball deep in their own half.

It's going to take something special if they are to go through, here.

Just to clear up any doubts you may have if you've not seen Joey Lussick's try - the likelihood is he did score the try fair and square.

I don't think Robert Hicks was doubting that but the camera angles were all subjective at best and he went with Liam Moore's on-field call.

In the meantime, Warrington are furious as yet another error sees them concede possession to Salford on halfway.

Oh my word, drama at the death in this game!

Referee Liam Moore gives a try as Joey Lussick looks to go over. He sends it to video ref Robert Hicks, who eventually gives the try despite the fact none of the angles showed him definitively being in possession.

Krisnan Inu adds the two. Can Salford hold on?!

My word, the errors Warrington are making right now are incredible.

Blake Austin completely slices a kick away and barely makes halfway with his efforts.

    Can Salford take advantage?

Rhys Williams wins about 30 metres with a tremendous solo run which came off the back of him scooping up a Warrington kick.

All of a sudden Salford are camped in Warrington's half and they look good.

How on earth have Salford defended that?!

Warrington throw everything but the kitchen sink at the Red Devils and Anthony Gelling can't quite work onto a high ball on the fifth tackle.

Salford are thwarting their efforts but you get the feeling if they can march upfield and score again this is over.

You have to say, that Salford try came off the back of Gareth Widdop's spill directly after he went over for Warrington.

There's four points in this game, just over 10 minutes to go and Salford look in good shape despite being behind.

  16. try

TRY: Salford 18-22 Warringtonpublished at 67 mins

    James Greenwood, goal Krisnan Inu

Salford win a further set of six deep in Warrington's 10 as they immediately press to cut the Wire's lead.

There's some fantastic play from the Red Devils and James Greenwood runs onto a last-ditch grubber kick and just about gets it down before it bounces out of play.

Video ref Robert Hicks eventually gives the try after studying a frame-by-frame CSI-esque breakdown of Greenwood grounding the ball.

Krisnan Inu adds two more points.

Blimey. On the restart Gareth Widdop spills the ball behind him and knocks it dead.

A lapse of concentration there! Warrington are forced into a goal line drop-out. Now would be the time for Salford to capitalise on that error.

Blake Austin is at the crux of this Warrington charge to put this game to bed and his latest effort to break upfield results in Jake Mamo running into touch.

On the one hand, Salford are kind of hanging on at the moment, but Warrington should be finishing some of these sets off.
