Wayne Parnell took a brilliant 4-16 as Northern Superchargers convincingly beat Southern Brave by 16 runs in the men's Hundred at Headingley.

With both sides having already missed out on a top-four finish, Superchargers and defending champions Brave headed into their final match of the tournament with little to play for.

Having been put into bat, Superchargers struggled to find any rhythm, posting a below-par 135-8 with Harry Brook scoring an entertaining 29 off 17 balls.

Leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed, 18, and seamer James Fuller were the pick of the Brave bowlers, both finishing with figures of 2-20.

In reply, Brave fell to 34-4 with Quinton De Kock, Paul Stirling and Alex Davies all falling for single figures, while captain James Vince scored just 13 off nine balls.

Ahmed (33 off 29) and Fuller (25 off 23) also impressed with the bat to give Brave slight hope of an unlikely win, but South Africa seamer Parnell bowled superbly to restrict the opposition to 119-9

Defending champions Brave end their campaign in seventh place, while Superchargers finish sixth.

    Here鈥檚 what else happened:

    • Superchargers opener Faf Du Plessis scored just seven runs before tamely chipping 18-year-old spinner Ahmed鈥檚 first delivery to mid-on.
    • David Willey scored 22 off 18 balls before he miscued the spin of Paul Stirling and was caught at cover.
    • Brave seamer Sonny Baker, 19, took his first wickets in the competition, finishing with figures of 2-28.
    • Brave鈥檚 De Kock was run out for just eight in chaotic fashion. Having played a sweep to backward square leg, the opener went for a single and was halfway down the wicket but Stirling, at the non-striker鈥檚 end, was unmoved.
    • England and Superchargers leg-spinner Adil Rashid finished with figures of 1-20, while there was also a wicket a piece for Callum Parkinson and David Willey.
