Begoña Cao

Begoña Cao is regarded as one of the finest Ballerinas of her generation. Born in London to Spanish parents she studied at the Arts Educational School and London’s Royal Ballet School obtaining scholarships to both.

Previously a principal ballerina of English National Ballet, Begoña has danced almost every major classical role from, Sir Frederick Ashton, Sir Kenneth MacMillan to Balanchine, Rudolf Nureyev to Roland Petit and many contemporary works. She has performed on the world’s greatest stages, Londons Royal Opera House Covent Garden, in Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Moscow, Saint Petersburg,Athens,Sdyney, Tokyo, Beijing, Singapore, touring extensively through out South East Asia, North America.

She has danced the title role in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Sleeping Beauty Aurora and Manon Rudolf Nureyev’s Romeo and Juliet, , Deane OBE Swan Lake Odette/ Odile, Romeo and Juliet and Strictly Gershwin, Sir Frederick Ashtons Five Brahms in the Manner of Isadora Duncan Mary Skeaping’s Giselle ,Wayne Eagling’s The Nutcracker Sugar Plum Fairy and Roland Petit’s Carmen. Leading roles inNijinsky’s L’après-midi d’un Faune, Michel Fokine’s Schéhérazade, George Balanchine’s Apollo Calliope, Polyhymia, Terpsichore and Who Cares!, Roland Petit’s La Chauve-Souris, Contemporary ballets include works by Jerome Robbins, Ben Stevenson,Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, and Akram Khan.

Begoña won the 2020 National Dance Awards (UK) ' Most Outstanding Classical Performance by a Female Artist" and has been nominated for the prestigious Moscow-based Benois de la Danse in the category for Female Dancers.

Critically acclaimed for her roles in Manon, Carmen, Swan Lake, Isadora Duncan and many more, Begoña has partnered with world-renowned dancers Irek Mukhamedov OBE, Vadim Montagirov and by Special Invitation Carlos Acosta CBE touring extensively in the UK and internationally. Begoña was also a judge and mentor for The Â鶹Éç Young Dancer 2019
