Advice for Kit Harington for life after Game Of Thrones
Game Of Thrones is one of the biggest TV shows of all time. But all good things come to an end, and the next series of the show will be its last. So what happens afterwards to its stars?
When Kit Harington dropped into the Radio 1 Breakfast Show recently to talk about his new show, , he was joined by his 麻豆社 co-star Liv Tyler, who knows a thing or two about playing a major character in a massive fantasy franchise.
She starred as elf princess Arwen in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and tells Kit that typecasting is inevitable when playing similar roles.
There are parts I鈥檓 interested in and directors are like 'I'm not sure, she's too ethereal'Liv Tyler
I'm just going to warn you now; it never gets any better than when you're making it," she says in an interview with Nick Grimshaw.
"When you're in it and working and so busy and it's normal, then it's over and you're not in the biggest movie or TV show in the world any more.
"Lord Of The Rings was so special and unique. I'm forever considered 'ethereal'. There are parts I’m interested in and directors are like 'I'm not sure, she's too ethereal.'
"This was a great opportunity to not be ethereal. But you do get typecast as your characters when you play something like that for so long."
Kit Harrington plays his distant relative in Gunpowder
Kit is a descendant of the leader of the Gunpowder Plot and is playing him in Gunpowder.
The final series of Game Of Thrones is expected to air in early 2019, but Kit admits he is already a little worried about hanging up Jon Snow's furry cape for good when the show is over.
"What am I going to do?" He jokes, but adds that filming the final series will be a positive experience for everyone involved.
"It's going to be such a celebration. I was just talking to John Bradley, who plays Samwell," he says.
"We're both freaking out about how much fun it's going to be. It's going to be long and it's going to be hard and hopefully we'll do it justice."
How is Liv Tyler鈥檚 English accent?
Liv chats to Grimmy and Kit Harrington, about playing British characters.
Gunpowder starts on 麻豆社 One on Saturday, and should give Game Of Thrones fans their Kit Harington fix with the same touches of violence, nudity and gore that made GoT such a phenomenon.
I grew up with the folklore in the familyKit Harington
And for Kit, Gunpowder has a more personal connection than stories of dragons, witches and white walkers ever could.
"My mother's maiden name is Catesby and it had always been a piece of family curiosity to know your ancestor was the leader of the gunpowder plot," he says.
"I grew up with the folklore in the family."
Robert Catesby was the leader of the English Catholics who planned to blow up the Houses Of Parliament in 1605 in the Gunpowder Plot, which led to British people celebrating Guy Fawkes night every year.
"I couldn't understand why it hadn't been dramatized before," says Kit.
"We celebrate it every fifth of November, it seems really relevant and pertinent."
