30 things you need to know about this year’s 6 Music Live line-up

MORRISSEY
1) Full Name Steven Patrick Morrissey.
2) All ten of Morrissey’s solo albums have gone straight into the UK top ten on release.
3) His 11th solo album, Low In High School, is released on 17 November, and he'll be previewing tracks from the record during his 6 Music Live performance.
4) Has published five books, starting with a 1981 biography of The New York Dolls. 2015’s List Of The Lost was his debut novel.
5) Unsuccessfully attempted to become a writer for Coronation Street in his teens, but later made a cameo in Brookside.
6) Was once in The Smiths…
MOGWAI
7) A four-piece featuring Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesizer, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass guitar) and Martin Bulloch (drums)
8) Named after the cuddly creatures that become Gremlins in the 1980s movies, but insist it has no significance. The word translates from Cantonese as 'evil spirit'.
9) Scored Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, a feature film that followed the French footballer for an entire match in real time. Spoiler alert, playing time is less than 90 mins.
10) They really do not like Blur, selling a t-shirt slating Blur as official merch when both bands played T In The Park in 1999.
11) Despite being known as an instrumental act, they did not release a fully instrumental album until 2008’s The Hawk Is Howling, their sixth record.
12) Are huge Celtic supporters, and thanked the club on their second album, Come On Die Young.

13) The three-piece feature Joe Newman (guitar/lead vocals), Thom Sonny Green (drums) and Gus Unger-Hamilton keyboards/vocals). They met while studying at Leeds University.
14) Originally wanted to be called ∆, but after being billed as “The Triangle Band” by one festival they adopted its computer keyboard shortcut as their name instead.

16) Guitarist Gus Unger-Hamilton runs a café called Dandy in London, which is housed in an old shipping container.
17) Have sold over 4 million records worldwide.

LOYLE CARNER
19) Full name Benjamin Gerard Coyle-Larner.
20) Is a Liverpool FC fan, but often wears an Eric Cantona shirt onstage in tribute to his late stepfather who supported the team.
21) Is working on a play entitled Pension inspired by his grandfather.
22) Sampled Ricordandoti from Italian composer Piero Umiliani’s soundtrack for La Ragazza Dalla Pelle di Luna for single Ain’t Nothing Changed.
23) Is a keen cook. He used cookery to help manage his ADHD as a teenager, often working in his grandparents in their hotel on the Isle Of Arran.
24) His mother Jean features on his debut album, Yesterday’s Gone, reading a poem on penultimate track Sun of Jean. She also made a guest appearance during his set at Glastonbury.
ROBERT PLANT
25) Full name Robert Anthony Plant.
26) Releases his 11th solo album, Carry Fire, on 13 October. Will be previewing tracks, alongside some classics from his back catalogue, when he plays 6 Music Live on Friday 6 October 2017.
27) Best known as the singer in Led Zeppelin. Wasn't Jimmy Page’s first choice for the band - then known as the New Yardbirds – but was recommended by Terry Reid, the man approached ahead of him.
28) Tries to organise his touring schedule around watching his beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers
29) His backing band, Space Shifters, includes Mercury Prize nominee Seth Lakeman.
30) Once used a copy of Led Zeppelin’s debut album to certify a cheque because he'd left his ID at home.
