Geoffrey of Monmouth - Legend Maker

Monmouth, a respectable market town in the far south east of Wales, sits upon the Monnow River. It was near here that the scholar and writer, Geoffrey of Monmouth, sometimes known in Welsh as ‘Geoffrey ab Arthur’ was apparently born. Born in the early part of the 12th Century to parents of Welsh or Breton descent, Geoffrey soon left the area to study at Oxford where he began work on the book that would make him one of the greatest legend-makers of all time.
