Valleys rock has become Wales' most valuable musical export, but whereas the likes of Funeral For A Friend and Lostprophets are skilled at melding the stylisations of modern metal to great pop hooks, The Guns revel in something more akin to the original fires of rock 'n' roll, the flames that ignited Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis all those years ago. It's a breathtaking, wind in your hair, playing Chevy chicken on the Old Point Road kind of session.

(aka Lee Marshall) talks about
his excellent début album Disorienteering. An album that is far
better described by its title than most.
Hear the initial bleeps, beats and sweeps of the album and you'd imagine a par for the course, pretty predictable cut 'n' paste job in Ableton Live. But the mists soon descend and you find yourself stumbling around in something much more eerily beautiful, spidery, Cure-like guitars creeping round you, strange and compelling Will-O-The-Wisp melodies trying to lead you further away from the path. It's a beautiful and singular album.
Longstanding and highly respected Valleys music promoter Glyn Mills tells us how the musical community in south Wales is hoping to raise money for the victims of the Haitian earthquake.
Huw Williams blows dust off the tome of Welsh musical history that details Alun Davies' 1972 solo album, Daydo.
Ben Hayes inspires us with the act that had the questionable pleasure of opening for The Beatles at Shea Stadium, Sounds Incorporated.
And Lara Catrin translates MC Mabon's deceptively dark Gad Dy Ben Yn Syml for us.
