I was present at Sophia Gardens Pavilion with my best friend Mary Huhtala, in the middle of the front row. My favourite was Mick while Mary's favourite was Brian Jones. We had mitched school in order to be at the head of the ticket queue, thus the best seats. We didn't scream, just sat in awe. At that time The Stones were very conventional, wearing matching dogtooth check jackets on stage; of course that soon changed. Luckily, my son, James, who led me to this blog, is old enough not to be shocked at the school-dodging that occurred in those heady days.
