Jenkins and Potts may judge ITV opera talent show

A new ITV opera-based talent show is set to feature Wales' Katherine Jenkins and perhaps Paul Potts alongside Myleene Klass as judges, according to a report from .
The show, which challenges pop stars to perform in an opera style, will go out on a prime time slot on ITV1.
Speaking to WalesOnline, an ITV spokeswoman said, "It's basically going to be advising pop stars how to sing opera. It's going to be on a Saturday. I don't think it's going to be that [] slot, but it will be a weekend programme. It should be good."
A spokesman for Katherine Jenkins told WalesOnline, "All I can say at the moment is that she is in discussions with a broadcaster and that is it.
"It will all be announced in due course when things are firmed up."

The so-called 'X Factor Effect' is already having a massively detrimental effect on the industry as it is, so we should be actively DISCOURAGING this sort of detritus.
Britain, and especially its media, has become obsessed with celebrating mediocrity and it's society that suffers. It's not 'cool' to be intelligent or talented or to offer something beneficial. Instead those that are lauded are indifferent, ineffectual and bland and their talent is, at best, only just about acceptable. The pop charts are filled with reality-wannabees, television caters for white, middle class people with no imagination, our theatres are filled with ex-Eastenders dross and we just sit back and accept it.
If this country is going to create great artists again we must stop encouraging the idea that talent and hard work are unnecessary and that any old fool can be a star...
