Lostprophets - '4am Forever'
Ponty's favourite sons don't half get a lot of flak for using grunty old rock guitars to make their pop music with. Which seems unfair, seeing as Girls Aloud are always bunging some tasty fret-spank or other into their tunes. I think the 'Prophets controversy is that way around, anyway. I mean, who could object to rock songs having a nice tune? Apart from ones by Slayer, obv. God, imagine if Slayer songs had tunes, like proper tunes you could whistle...that would be CREEPY...

Anyway, mocking Lostprophets for being too poppy is daft. Especially when Ian Watkins has such a bewildering array of stupid haircuts which are just crying out for a good snigger. Did you see that curly-look bouffant he had? That was better than the Mighty Boosh, Little Britain and [insert your favourite comedy show here] combined!
Sadly, as a quick look at this video will show, he's gone back to his old straightened not-massively-funny hair, and it's raining too. So I SUPPOSE we'll just have to talk about THE MUSIC instead. Cuh!
Basically, if anyone is currently going through a messy breakup, or has recently had a big fight with their best friend and they're not on speaking terms, or has suffered a bereavement of any sort...this is your tune.
You're angry, sad, despondent, angry again, sad again...and so's Ian. You want to smash stuff and then hug stuff? So do the band. You're bitter that the world can contain amazing splendour, and that it can be removed brutally quickly. And Lostprophets have curdled guitars and anguished howls to match that, note for note.
Not so funny now, eh?

wohoo im gonna see them tomorrow at the birmingham nia! :D i dont know what to think of this song though, and the new album isnt as good as the last one :S theyv definately done better tracks and im not really too sure bout the new poppy style, though they did say now that theyve done this theyll never need to try pop again. good. i miss the old stuff like we still kill the old way, burn burn and last train home. theyr classics whereas this one is not. and btw what are the backing vocals in the chorus? i cant understand them :S anyway, atleast youve given them plently of stars this time, but i think maybe other songs youve scored down in the past deserved them more. ohwell, im sure itll be great tomorrow anyway :)
ps yes i did see the curly hair...all i can say is :S

You're exactly right about the type of moods this song fits. If you listen to it when you're fantastically happy for example it just sounds vaguely whiney. In saying that its fairly easy to listen to so might appeal to those pop huggers.. and possibly give them the incentive to listen to the older stuff.. maybe.. can only hope!
Saw them in Glasgow on Wednesday and they were pretty darn fabulous.. as were Taking Back Sunday. Aiden were okay, apparently the guy fell over on stage, I missed that.
the gig was amazing! anyone else see them on fri at the nia? taking back sunday rocked aswell but i cant say the same for aiden.
they also played a song of the album theyr working on now...if people are fans of this band only because of songs like 4am forever theyr gonna have a huge shock if all the songs on the new album are as metally (and dark i suppose) as the one they played. it was awesome though, and ian rapped the fresh prince of bel-air theme tune :D sooo funny, everyone was singing along to it, like we were back in the 90s...and something else, ians hair wasnt even over the top!
ok i supose its not the best song on the new album but it is still a good song
theve been round for years and have done alot of things we could only wish to do:)

I have to say lostprophets are 1 of my fave bands, it may not be the bets song on their album but its still awsum!! so far they have had a few albums out but this one has to be my favorite! these guys rule and every song they have had out so far has been brilliant! keep up the good work boiz xxxxxx
