Girls Aloud Vs Sugababes - 'Walk This Way'

Girls Aloud If a fairy dies every time you deny the existence of the little people, imagine what happens when you diss a charity single. I'll admit to you now, dear readers, I have serious reservations about this song. However, with the week I've had, I'm not sure I can take the karmic fall-out of airing the negatives.

So, let's look at the positives. This is easily MUCH better than 2003's Comic Relief Gareth Gates/The Kumars collaboration, Spirit in the Sky. Relatively, it's a masterpiece. In fact, if we look back at the history of Comic Relief singles - Right Said Fred anyone? - it's actually very easy to defend.

Really, this song's only crime is that it doesn't live up to the potential almighty, all-conquering chart smash that we dreamed would result from the uniting of pop's great girl titans.

It's a fairly dispassionate by-the-book version of the Run DMC/Aerosmith classic. BUT it's a bit of fun, it's for charidee and... um... Nicola has a very fetching new fringe in the video so, you know, swings and roundabouts. And the karmic retribution. Let's not risk that. Buy it, four star it, sleep at night.

Four starsReleased: March 12th

Now i may be a tad biast as i am a lifelong aerosmith fan. For me listening to this single was painful.

I understand its for charty and its great that they have reproduced a classic.

However they have ruined a classic, they have sucked the rock out of it and it is one of the worst cover versions i have herd in aa long time.

But its for charity so eh.

Why does this ong keep getting slagged off??! I Love it, so what i may be the only person who likes it, but i must say this is one of my favourite charity singles! and i think they have done this song some justice!

TBH, I didnt like Aerosmiths version so im bound to say that!

If any of you ask why i dont like Aerosmiths version, Its because i dont like that type of music and to be honest i dont think theyres that much difference between the 2, only that Girls aloud and Sugababes have made it their own and made it a little bit more poppy!

WHY? There are so many songs that could have been turned into a vocal contest between these two, why did they have to mess with this one? The video is a cheap ripoff of the original, which had much more shock power with its combination of rap/rock.

Can I just say the original version was NOT by Run DMC and Aerosmith. The original, which is the best, was by Aerosmith on their own and was done some time in the 70s on the Toys in the Attic album. The Run DMC version was done some time in the 80s.
