Raj&Pablo Love Bollywood: IIFA

Raj&Pablo | 11:34 UK time, Thursday, 12 June 2008

Well what can we say...if Saturday's Show was stupendous. As soon as we had finished the show had a quick debrief and the obligatory quaffs of Champagne...we got suited and booted ..grabbed the driver and went of to IIFA fashion show - KJo (even though he says he hates been called that - we refuse to let old habits die) hosted and the highlights for us were Manish Mlahotra's magnificent ghagra collection with Kareena strutting her stuff - a DIVA is Born. The doctor turned designer Vikram Phadnis'Ìý saris with a twist ; Rohit Bahls eclectic cuts - ( he looked dashing in his white Jodhpurs) and Harman and Priyanka making a spectacular splash in their Love Story 2050 outfits.

Dinner and drinks at the hotel - Monty Sharma with wife; Shyam Benegal and wife ; Shabana and Javed; and the stylish and sweet Diya Mirza. Captain Sheetal Masi and Leiutenants Sarky Shabnam and Rampant Rajni joined in and we finally let our hair down.Ìý The funny thing was that even though the hotel had flown in Indian chefs from Bangalore, our two leaders decided to become British and ordered FISH&CHIPS ....talk about being Brits abroad! We fell about laughing when their plates arrived - Sheetal Masi (who is always right munched away) with her stiff upper lip determination while Sarky Shabnam grimaced and true to form stole most of Rampant Rajni's Methi Paneer - (as well as naans and ate all of her chips - how does she keep her figure we think !!)Ìý Midshipmen Mintu and Mani couldn't attend as they were forced to edit!!...(hehehe)

Sunday morning and we were all raring to go...Raj wore black (to start with) Pablo his causal 'I'm just out of the gym' look - sauntered down to the lobby to see what was happening.Ìý And the hurly burly started. Akshay Kumar had arrived from South Africa - he looked fit with his stubble and black skinny jeans and waistcoat look. ÌýBut the main buzz was about Kareena stuck in traffic that she got out of her limo and took a -Tuk Tuk. ÌýWe were swept into the lift with Harman, Harry and Priyanka and attended the Love Story 2050 launch. The film looks like sci fi special effects heaven and is on par with anything from Hollywood. Harman is going to be HUGE!!...soon as that finished The Unforgettable Launch started with the first family of Bollywood: The Bachchans.

We were seated right behind La Family B and as soon as AbhiAsh walked in Abhi greeted us with a holler of "HELLO BOYS" with a cheeky grin - and Ash gave us a wink!...The tour is going to be a visual treat - think Madonna, think U2, think Beyonce! - We were the first to find out that the line up not only includes Amitabh, Abhi and Ash as well as Ritiesh and Preity - but that Akshay Kumar will be the special guest when the tour launches in Toronto - Madhuri (who looks stunningly different with her re styled hairdo!) in the US and Shilpa Shetty gracing the stage in London.

Ìý

THEN it was time for the show!Ìý Panic stations as the team went to tidy up the LOVE BOLLWYOOD BOUDOIR - Captain Sheetal Masi took the helm despite having a bad hair day - at least Captain Packard doesn't have that problem - and the Spaceship engines were checked for all technical connections ; Matt hooked up the lines; Sarky Shabnam unflappingly organising hospitality (although she forget to order Champers!) as well as fixing the doorbell!! And Rampant Rajni rushedÌý around to ensure the invitees would arrive.Ìý The double M's fiddled with their lenses and looked quite smart in their suits (glad to say the suits got an outing from weddings!).

Ìý

Then it was all systems go!!!Ìý And what a start! There are stars and there are stars - but when the magnificent Mumtaz arrived there was a collective gasp! She was wonderful and so self deprecating - She told us that in her time there was a huge amount of competition among the heroines; she underplayed her days of struggle and became the sole breadwinner and hated her thunder thighs! She now spends most of her time in Mayfair and as we are near neighbours we will be going to tea!

70s diva,

Actress Mumtaz

After the feminine charms of Mumtaz the girls swooned at the male testosterone that exuded from every pore of Suneil Shetty and Apoorva Lakhia. Forget Metroxesual Men - these guys could have been in 300! Suneil has just co produced Apoorva's MISSION ISTANBUL and it's got Zayed, Vivek, Suneil, Nikitin and the sulty Shweta and sensous Shriya.Ìý Then the doorbell rings, in walks the understated Tushaar Kapoor.Ìý He tells us that he has just arrived and wants to know how our Â鶹Éç Asian Newtork Doc went down! Energy goes up to warp speed six when a hyper Arshad Warsi saunters in and reveals he's looking forward to shooting in the UK and is on the lookout for a Volkswagon Beetle to blow up in the movie...poor wee Herbie...then sarky Shriya Saran saunters in...if you thought our Shabnam had a tongue ..well we can tell you Shriya is 100 times better - We flirt ceaselessly and she takes the mick out of us and says we have it easy as we are surrounded by a team of thorough professionals - LITTLE DOES SHE KNOW!!...hahaha..only joking !...Then Fardeen Khan rings the bell and talks about how pleased he is that his mother in law Mumtaz is being honoured, talks about his dads health and his future plans...Then Kunal Kapoor walks in and the girls swoon a bit more...And then before we know it, it'sÌý 12.00pm and time for us to sign off...and finally we get ready for the actual ceremony itself and for Ìýanother Love Bollywood Rollercoaster!!
