DEAR BLOG SQUADRON

Adam Buxton Adam Buxton | 11:27 UK time, Thursday, 30 July 2009

How are you? I am fine. I'm just making the most of the crappy weather 'til I get swine flu at which point I'll immediately die of course. Ain't it great being British? It's been weird not doing the Saturday show these last few weeks but I'm getting some work done and I've been doing a few gigs here and there too. To find out how I got on at The Latitude festival a couple of weeks back visit my . I've also been making a note of all my stupid behaviour and I look forward to sharing it with you when we return. Apart from a lot of stupidity I've also been camping and got ticks (photo evidence upon return), finished shooting the Â鶹Éç2 sitcom I was acting in which is now called The Persuasionists and should be on sometime in September, had a haircut, conducted a ludicrous interview with Thom Yorke (see personal blog), got into Dexter which everyone said was good but I couldn't quite believe it, started making a video for my Festival Song, went to the cinema to see Ice Age 3 which was better than Ice Age 2 and spent a lot of time with the rapper and film star Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

As long time listeners to our podcasts will know I am often invited to stay with Will and Jada who live in a gold house that hovers above an undisclosed tropical location where they are waited on by the cast of Lost who take it in turns to shoot their scenes for the final season between doing the bidding of Will, Jada and their guests. Hardest working is Sayid, though he can be a little violent. Laziest is Hugo (no surprises there!) who simply dumps your plate in front of you at mealtimes and says 'Dude, food' or sometimes 'Food, dude' which was funny to begin with but is now annoying.
Ìý
One of the fun things about staying with the Pinkett-Smiths is discovering who else has been invited. So far this summer their guests have included Dr A Buckles and family, NOT Dr J Sexy, Ant, Dec, Billy Ray Cyrus (charming), Fearne Cotton (a bit of a bummer when she turned up with Nick Grimshaw in tow), Oprah Winfrey and St Winfrey School Choir (charming and moving), Bill Clinton, Big Cook but NOT Little Cook, Susan Boyle (tragic and moving but not that charming) Seth Rogan (hilarious), Alan Yentob, Scatman John and Jools Holland who would organise everyone into groups then make us freestyle over whatever tune he was picking out on one of the Fresh Prince's keyboards. To be honest some of the guests got rather tired of this particular routine and it was down to Ben Linus from Lost to distract Jools with some a-cappella boogie woogie so the rest of us could go back to watching Robot Chicken on Will's 70 metre plasma screen. Hope you don't think I¹m showing off and name dropping, I just thought you might like to know what I've been up to.
Ìý
Hope your summer isn't a bummer. Maybe see you at sometime. I'll try to check in on this blog in a week or two. Or three.
Ìý
I love you byeee!
Adam

Fun game: part of this post contains untrue facts. Can you tell where the truthful post ends and the invented post begins? Clue: it's before Jools Holland is mentioned.

    Dearest Buckules:

The part where you mention that Scatman John turned up to Will Smith's house is clearly untrue for the following reasons.

Reason 1) Will Smith HATES Scatman John because Scatman John refuses to accept that the line "Wicky wicky wild wild west!" is a true scat.

Reason 2) Scatman John died in 1999 ('overscatting', according to his death certificate) and as much as you might wish it, Will Smith does not live in heaven.

Aside from that all facts look correct.

    Love you!

    Alex

Thanks for taking away some of the withdrawal I have been experiencing since you and Dr. Sexy have been away on holiday.

Now I am left wondering what the beautiful and lovely Charlotte Guzan has been up these last several weeks.

I miss the show terribly! I hope you and Joe are enjoying your time off and will come back refreshed and as brilliant as ever.

  • Comment number 3.

I assume you're taking notes. Miss you both SOO much

  • Comment number 4.

I was at the filming of that last episode of your sitcom, and a thoroughly enjoyed it. Even the warm up chaps were decent!

Hello Adam! Good to know you're enjoying your fine holiday!

I have no idea what you were saying up there after the first paragraph -- I was most confused and overwhelmed but it was an enjoying experience nonetheless! :DDD

Take care and looking forward to more bloggy posties! *huggles*

Cheers from Aussie where it is cold and wintry! :3

in desperation to hear your voice, only last night I revisited your stints on The Unbelievable Truth so your ability to lie and deceive is like a fresh prince in my eager mind. You are the sweetest, funniest liar I know.

The big giveaway (if one were needed) with the golden house waffle is that I think a man of your superior intellect would have soon become bored in that situation and teleported out of there.

I hope you're not missing Dr J Sexy too much. You do so enjoy your little Saturday morning chats and his tender missiles of derision.

Thank you for taking some time to delight us with your words here & at your own blog......

    ........and thanks for BUG. Here's a great big HUG {{{{AB}}}}

Sorry to hear about your tick attack. I think there has been some kind of insect ramadan lately and they've just gone mental when they've been allowed a nibble! My "friend" got bit all over his legs and had to go to a walk in centre because his legs were all swollen.
They put bandages on both his shins... And the morning after I managed to break his bed and he got rather angry and started trying to get cross with me while naked wearing only the bandages... I just laughed.

    Bye Buckaleeboo x

Adam shared a photo of one of his ticks at BUG and let me tell you, your friend got off lightly with shins. Count Buckules had an attack dangerous near his USB..........

  • Comment number 9.

Did you get a tick in your todge?

  • Comment number 10.

@Daisyisfurious - ah, good times! I think he very nearly did.

just read my previous post & I missed the 'ly' off 'dangerously'. What an idiothole....

Oh Adam, you have made me step out of the shadow and sign up to this blog so i can leave a comment...

Just to tell you about a show i love that no one really seems to be talking about in Britain. The show is called Breaking Bad (second season just finished) and is on in America on the AMC nework famed for their other brilliant show Madmen. It's a kind of black comedy but with really human characters, people have been comparing it to the wire in terms of quality but i think it's a different show all together, something very new... Anyway it's won 2 emmy's and lot's of other awards, so it's not just me who thinks it's great!

I'll watch Dexter next but like you i'm kind of reluctant for some reason too!

Oh, lovely Adam. How I have missed thee. A personal blog post from you was a wickles surprise!

Breaking Bad is no Dexter, but it is quite good once it picks up a bit. Just finished season 1 on DVD.

    Cheers, m'dears!

  • Comment number 13.

Scatman John died 10 years ago! Are you trying to imply that Will and Jada dabble in the dark arts?

  • Comment number 14.

You got ticks? Ouch. Careful you don't get a tick in the todge, mate.

Hope you and D.J Corny-Bawls will be back soon, Count.

  • Comment number 15.

It's midday on Saturday and just like clockwork, the next podcast is up. Thanks Spanks!

  • Comment number 16.

Dear Count Buckles Esquire of Norwich we all know you rock and the only reason that will smith hasn't invited you to his Pad yet is he would be really star struck well if you took King Corndog anyway haha great though a surprise blog fun fun fun can't wait for the show again and the Sitcom!!!!

  • Comment number 17.

@Webname. To be honest I thought he was being a little girl about it all... anyone would of thought it was malaria infected mosquito bites!

Men just love to milk attn from a bite/injury or anything that involves scars and oozing.

  • Comment number 18.

Shooting a Â鶹Éç2 sitcom? As if you'd expect us to believe that?!
    What a lie.

  • Comment number 19.

I'm officaially the most gullable person ever.
Hmm.. gullable... that's just trusting, right?
So it's YOU who are at fault!
    Bad man x

    Dear Count Buckula,
This is terribly cheeky requesting something But. when you're back doing the radio show maybe you could use your old blog jingle from xfm days (the one with the 'swedish' in it)- I bloody loved it! Dunno if the web address would fit the line anymore but how and ever...
Thank you and Joe for your very funny show,
Caer (An Irish girl living in Japan - an international fan squared)
