DEAR BLOG SQUADRON

Adam Buxton Adam Buxton | 11:27 UK time, Thursday, 30 July 2009

How are you? I am fine. I'm just making the most of the crappy weather 'til I get swine flu at which point I'll immediately die of course. Ain't it great being British? It's been weird not doing the Saturday show these last few weeks but I'm getting some work done and I've been doing a few gigs here and there too. To find out how I got on at The Latitude festival a couple of weeks back visit my . I've also been making a note of all my stupid behaviour and I look forward to sharing it with you when we return. Apart from a lot of stupidity I've also been camping and got ticks (photo evidence upon return), finished shooting the Â鶹Éç2 sitcom I was acting in which is now called The Persuasionists and should be on sometime in September, had a haircut, conducted a ludicrous interview with Thom Yorke (see personal blog), got into Dexter which everyone said was good but I couldn't quite believe it, started making a video for my Festival Song, went to the cinema to see Ice Age 3 which was better than Ice Age 2 and spent a lot of time with the rapper and film star Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Ìý
As long time listeners to our podcasts will know I am often invited to stay with Will and Jada who live in a gold house that hovers above an undisclosed tropical location where they are waited on by the cast of Lost who take it in turns to shoot their scenes for the final season between doing the bidding of Will, Jada and their guests. Hardest working is Sayid, though he can be a little violent. Laziest is Hugo (no surprises there!) who simply dumps your plate in front of you at mealtimes and says 'Dude, food' or sometimes 'Food, dude' which was funny to begin with but is now annoying.
Ìý
One of the fun things about staying with the Pinkett-Smiths is discovering who else has been invited. So far this summer their guests have included Dr A Buckles and family, NOT Dr J Sexy, Ant, Dec, Billy Ray Cyrus (charming), Fearne Cotton (a bit of a bummer when she turned up with Nick Grimshaw in tow), Oprah Winfrey and St Winfrey School Choir (charming and moving), Bill Clinton, Big Cook but NOT Little Cook, Susan Boyle (tragic and moving but not that charming) Seth Rogan (hilarious), Alan Yentob, Scatman John and Jools Holland who would organise everyone into groups then make us freestyle over whatever tune he was picking out on one of the Fresh Prince's keyboards. To be honest some of the guests got rather tired of this particular routine and it was down to Ben Linus from Lost to distract Jools with some a-cappella boogie woogie so the rest of us could go back to watching Robot Chicken on Will's 70 metre plasma screen. Hope you don't think I¹m showing off and name dropping, I just thought you might like to know what I've been up to.
Ìý
Hope your summer isn't a bummer. Maybe see you at sometime. I'll try to check in on this blog in a week or two. Or three.
Ìý
I love you byeee!
Adam

Fun game: part of this post contains untrue facts. Can you tell where the truthful post ends and the invented post begins? Clue: it's before Jools Holland is mentioned.

COUNT BUCKULES ON THE ARCHERS

Post categories: ,Ìý

Jane Long Jane Long | 14:18 UK time, Monday, 6 July 2009

Listener Simon from Taunton was understandably upset by Adam's recent treatment at the hands of The Archers, so decided to do something about it:

Ìý

"I, along with probably hundreds of thousands of people was, DISGUSTED at the WAY Count Buckules was FOBBED off by thingy from The Archers. As such, just to show her what she's missing, I've added the dulcet tones of the good Count to an episode of The Archers in which he is dancing at a young lady's party. I am sure you will agree, the character fits in seamlessly to the plot. Hope you like it."

James Stirling (6 Music) James Stirling (6 Music) | 16:33 UK time, Friday, 3 July 2009

As you may know by now, Adam & Joe are now off for a summer break from their Saturday morning show. Noooo! I hear you cry. Well Yesssssss! I cry back - but please don't be upset, as it's not all bad news.

Ìý

Reason to be Cheerful Part 1 - Andrew Collins is in tomorrow (4th July), celebrating the wonderful world of Independent Record companies on Independence Day.

Ìý

Reason to be Cheerful Part 2- The wonderful Danny Wallace will then take over for the rest of the summer. Anyone who heard Danny sit in for Shaun Keaveny at Breakfast will know they are in for a treat. There will be fun and guests and of course, great music.

Ìý

Reason to be Cheerful Part 3 - The best news for Adam & Joe fans is that from 11th July, the boys will return with a weekly Classic Song Wars podcast. Each week there will be a set of Song Wars tracks for you to download and keep, as well as an accompanying commentary from Adam & Joe about the making of the songs. Here's a bit to give you a taste
