"50:50 is powerful because it is a simple way of using data to deliver change. While there鈥檚 always more to do, I am very pleased to see that fair representation has improved significantly at the 麻豆社."
Our Sixth 50:50 Challenge
April 2024 is the sixth year of published results from the 50:50 Equality Project, the international benchmarking scheme in diversity in content which started in the 麻豆社 newsroom. 470 teams across TV, radio, online and digital in the divisions of News, Content and Nations shared their data . 48% of those programmes achieved 50% women in their content in March. Around 350 teams are now also measuring ethnicity and disability representation, cementing further progress on their targets in this area. The number of teams signed up to 50:50 in the 麻豆社 has increased to 760.
Currently 50 External organisations also use the 50:50 methodology, including other public broadcasters and media organisations. This year 20 of them shared their data for the third year. 38% of them achieved 50% of women in their content in March.
Consistency Challenge 2024
We look forward to continuing to expand the project with new teams joining all the time and increased engagement each month.
