"Dad gave up straight away. He had no will to live at all."

Doug Reynolds who now lives in Brynhyfryd, lost his twin brothers, Bill and Mansell (both aged 21 at the time) in the explosion. Doug was a bus driver at the time.

His father took the news very badly and Doug, being the eldest, had to go to the mortuary.

"I went down to the pit to identify the boys because dad was so ill. Billy didn't have a mark on him. But Mansel had been closer to the explosion. That was hard, seeing him like that. They were good-looking guys. You never really get over something like that."
