"Driving up the valley I had the feeling that there was somthing wrong connected with my family."
It's 50 years since the village of Six Bells in Abertillery was hit by a tragic coal mining disaster, killing 45 local men. For those who lost friends and loved ones and helped in the rescue effort, time has not dulled memories of the horror.
George Crandon still lives in Six Bells today and was in his twenties at the time of the explosion. He was the eldest in his family, so had the responsibility of identifying his father's body in the make-shift morgue.
