1969: Robin Knox-Johnston circumnavigates the world
Robin Knox-Johnston becomes the first person to single-handedly circumnavigate the globe non-stop on 22 April 1969.
He completes the voyage in his ketch sailboat, named Suhaili, after 312 days at sea.
Knox-Johnston is welcomed back to Falmouth Harbour, where he had begun his record-breaking journey.
