The Spaniard has now scored four goals in five Champions League games for City, twice as many as he netted for Valencia in the competition.

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva speaking to BT Sport: "It was a good game we knew we have already got first spot in group and we are already qualified but it's always very good to finish the group stage with a good win, 3-0 at home. Onto the next one.

"It's a good start for us - we know it's not enough but it's a very good start. We're into the last 16 and our goal is to do better than we did in the last three seasons and that's what we will try to do."

On having Sergio Aguero back: "Very happy, everyone knows how important he is for us. He is one of best players to ever play for this club, he's a goalscorer and a fantastic guy to have in the dressing room as well. Good to have him back."

On heading into the Manchester derby: "It's been a few games that we've been winning, when you win its easier to go into the next game and win again and win again. So to have these games in a row winning of course it's very nice and we just want to keep the momentum going we know we have a tough game against Manchester United at the weekend and we want to just keep winning."

This was definitely City in third gear but that was enough to wallop the French side 3-0 for the second time this season.

It looks ominous for Manchester United, if I'm being honest.

I still think Sergio Aguero is a bit match short, fitness wise. Tonight will do him the world of good, scoring that goal a proper goalscorers goal. What a great player to be able to bring on after an hour, because you always know he will get a chance and he normally takes them.

I wouldn't throw him in at the start, but saying that Man United usually struggle at the start but I would think he will come on for the last half hour or maybe at half-time at the earliest.

Man City just keep going and they are a constant threat - Marseille caught out. It's a great ball hit across, definitely no offside. I think Alvaro got the final touch.

You have to be on your game to beat Man City, Marseille just not on it.

It's all over.

City finish with 16 points in Group C - the joint-most of any English side in a single group stage along with Arsenal in 2005-06, Manchester United in 2007-08 and Tottenham Hotspur in 2017-18.

It's all over in Spain. Real Madrid are through.

But who's going to join them? Inter are going all out for a winner.

Phil Foden takes it - it has the whip and dip, but not the accuracy.

Keeper Steve Mandanda opted not to move for it - no doubt he knew it was going wide.

Liz Tray: Ake has been terrific, deserves to score that and should definitely start in the derby. He is a much better defender than anyone else in that position at the club. This much is obvious.
