  3. 'The players need a break tomorrow'published at 22:34 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2020

    Manchester City 3-0 Olympiakos

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to BT Sport: "In the first half we played really well. In the second half we struggled for some moments but when we scored the second one it was over.

"We've had a good three games, nine points. We need three more points or one more point to qualify. We have five days to recover for Liverpool and then the international break.

"They had one or two chances [to equalise]. When we controlled in the way we control, we cannot finish games - we struggle with the second goal - but finally with an incredible goal from Gabriel Jesus and then from Joao Cancelo we win the game.

"John Stones is back, an incredible performance - almost perfect. It's not easy when you're a long time without playing.

"The forecast in the next three days says it will be sunny in Manchester. It's rare. We're going to have tomorrow off. After that on Friday and Saturday we'll prepare for the Liverpool game. But the players need a break."

  4. 'I don't think anyone could've defended against Mane, Salah and Jota tonight'published at 22:30 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2020

    Atalanta 0-5 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: "That was a performance we needed tonight. My boys played an incredible game, the front line defending and attacking was outstanding. Midfield organisation, desire, readiness. Top level, last line pushing up and knowing the threat Atalanta can cause. You win a game 5-0, you could score more goals but our goalie had to still make three world-class saves. Overall a really good game.

"It's about the players, it was difficult against us tonight, I don't think anyone could've defended against Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Diogo Jota so it wasn't about the tactics or our system it was about the team.

"90% of my players have three games in the international break, my players are still on duty. After City this weekend it's only me who gets a week off. But we have to recover now and we will need it. Then we can see who is available and City are a different team so we have to make sure we're ready for that."

Liverpool hat-trick scorer Diogo Jota speaking to BT Sport: "I’m playing in the best team of my career so far. I don’t know if it's the best moment of my career but obviously scoring goals is my way of playing football. I’m happy with this, a great win away in Champions League, a good moment and a good night."

On his favourite goal of the night: "The first one was my favourite because it unlocks the game – for all teams it’s important to get the first goal in each game. We scored early so that’s a good moment for me and the team and then we can manage the game our way."

On playing with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah: "Obviously they are two world class players, we all know their quality which makes it easier for me to do my job because they are outstanding and we had a great game together today."

On what they can take into Man City game: "Well five goals, that doesn’t happen so often to score five in one game. The clean sheet as well if we can keep a clean sheet against City we will win the game."

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos: "It's a good result, three points in a group that had gotten tough. When you win, you recover emotionally, those doubts that generate bad results.

"You have to leave like this, it was a final, a life or death match. When you see that they equalise, you have to play it, go upstairs ... We bet on a card and it went well."

    Manchester City 3-0 Olympiakos

    Stephen Warnock
Ex-Liverpool defender on Â鶹Éç Radio 5 Live

Man City were in control but there was always that element of a lack of concentration. They were their won downfall at times and it was almost lazy. Olympiakos had opportunities to score which they probably should've done. At the end of the day they've got the three points but Pep Guardiola will say okay we've won by three goals but they need to up their game for the game against Liverpool at the weekend.

    Manchester City 3-0 Olympiakos

    Stephen Warnock

What a finish from Joao Cancelo, he's only just come onto the pitch and he's finished that like a striker.

Pep Guardiola will be happy to get the maximum points so far in the group stages of the Champions League but he will be bitterly disappointed with the performance tonight because it drops well below the standards that he sets.

But that's job done for tonight.

    Joao Cancelo (90 mins)

What a strike! Joao Cancelo only came on a few minutes ago but the full-back swaps passes 25 yards from goal and then curls a left-footer brilliantly around the keeper and in. Lovely finish.
