World On Your Street: The Global Music Challenge
Best UK Wedding Songs

The real sound ofÌýtheÌýUK's weddingsÌýin 2003 ranges fromÌýBhangra beatsÌýto klezmer classics to Nigerian fuji rhythms. As part of a national campaign World on your Street teamed up with Â鶹Éç Asian Network, jewish.co.uk, Olay (Turkish newspaper) and Focus (Nigerian magazine) in the search to discover the UK's best wedding songs.

World On Your Street and its partners have been running features on wedding music across cultures and inviting audiences to vote for the best wedding song ever. The results of these votes are posted below.

There were features on the Best UK wedding songs across Â鶹Éç Radio including Radio 3’s World Routes on Saturday 5 July, Â鶹Éç Asian Network Sonia Deol Show from 23 – 27 June

ListenÌýÌýListen (10'01) to the wedding songs feature broadcast on Â鶹Éç Radio 4 Woman’s Hour during the week of 28 July.

The best Asian wedding song:
The on Â鶹Éç Asian Network asked five Asian celebrities to name their favourite wedding songs and make the case for their choice on air (from 23 – 27 June). The online vote has now closed and the winner is chosen by music producer Rishi Rich. .

Jewish weddingThe best Jewish wedding song
Two major Jewish websites and , have been running a poll asking visitors to vote for their favourite Jewish wedding song. And the winner is the classic Hava Nagila. Read more about Jewish wedding music here on the World on your Street site.



Nigerian weddingThe best Nigerian wedding song
Focus (Nigerian magazine), African Times and have been running interviews with Nigerian celebrities about their favourite wedding songs and/or inviting readers to vote.
