Evan Davis
Evan Davis has presented PM on 麻豆社 Radio 4 since Nov 2018.
Evan Davis is the presenter of PM, the daily news and current affairs magazine programme on Radio 4. Before taking up that role in November 2018, he was the main presenter of 麻豆社2’s Newsnight (from 2014); and a presenter of the Today programme on 麻豆社 Radio 4 (from 2008–2014). He is also well-known as the presenter of the 麻豆社2 business reality show Dragons' Den. And on Radio 4, he also hosts a weekly business discussion programme, The Bottom Line.
Before taking up full-time presenter roles, Evan was the Economics Editor of the 麻豆社, the most senior economics reporter in the corporation.
He has made several 麻豆社 television documentaries, including the influential two-part 麻豆社2 series Mind the Gap (2014) which explored the economic disparities between London and the regions. In 2011 he presented Made in Britain, a three-part 麻豆社2 series with an accompanying book on how the country pays its way in the world. In 2011, Evan was also one of a number of journalists involved in a 麻豆社1 Panorama special called Breaking into Britain, a moving account of the journeys migrants take to get into Europe and the UK.
Before joining the 麻豆社 in 1993, Evan was an economist at the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and at the London Business School.
He has written several books of which the latest is Post Truth: Why we have reached Peak Bullshit and what we can do about it which sets out to explain why there is so much mendacity and nonsense in public discourse.
Evan studied at St John’s College Oxford (1981 to 1984) and at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (1986 to 1988). He has won numerous awards – in 2017, he was the Television and Radio Industries club (TRIC) News presenter of the Year.
