'Anora': 21st century Fairytale about US Sex Worker tipped for Oscar Glory
It's 33 years since Julia Roberts had an Academy Award nomination for 'Pretty Woman' - now another film about a young sex worker is being predicted for multiple Oscar nominations next year.
'Anora' by American director Sean Baker, released in the UK this week, won the prestigious Palme D'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival, where the filmmaker dedicated his win to 'sex workers past, present and future.'
The movie also had the highest box-office-per-screen of 2024 when it opened in the USA this month, making it a frontrunner for awards season.
