Can Sport Survive Climate Change?

As the Commonwealth Games 2022 kicks off, 麻豆社 Three speaks speak to the athletes whose sports are being impacted by climate change.

As the Commonwealth Games 2022 kicks off, 麻豆社 Three speaks to athletes across the Commonwealth about the sports being affected by climate change and what they are doing to make a difference.

How athletes train and the sports they love are evolving, but some will cease to exist entirely. And as Commonwealth Games taekwondo star Faith Ogallo says, the changes she faces are physiologically challenging. Air pollution in Nairobi makes breathing while running a battle for Faith, and she has started to notice blood when she blows her nose. We also hear from India鈥檚 first female pro surfer Ishita Malaviya who tells us how rising sea levels might mean surfing could be wiped out. Over in Canada, ice climber Will Gadd shows us how his sport is rapidly melting out of existence by taking us to a receding Glacier that tourists are coming to see before it鈥檚 gone. As Will says, if you live in a city, climate change can be abstract but the glacier is not. And finally, we head to Wales with Mountain bike world champion Manon Carpenter to see how storm damage is destroying forests and the trails within.
