Episode 4

Caoimhe looks at the environment and how young people engage with climate change.

Díríonn clár deireanach na sraithe ar an timpeallacht agus an imní atá ar dhaoine óga faoin chomhshaol a eascraíonn as an athrú aeráide. Casann muid ar an ghníomhaí óg Anna Kernahan agus a cara Kay le haghaidh stailc Fridays For Future i lár Bhéal Feirste ar an 115ú seachtain den stailc. Freastalaíonn Caoimhe ar léacht Chomhshaolachais in Ollscoil na Banríona leis an Ollamh John Barry a léiríonn buairimh a chuid mac léinn faoi thodhchaí an domhain. Labhraíonn mac léinn amháin, gur athair óg é, faoin imní atá air faoi thodhchaí a mhic mura ndéantar rud ar bith faoin athrú aeráide. Tugann Martha an veigeán leideanna do Chaoimhe faoin dóigh le bheith ag siopadóireacht ar bhealach níos inbhuanaithe. Agus cuireann Aoife de Bhál, a thugann aire don timpeallacht i gCluain an Bhogaidh, i gcuimhne dúinn cad é mar is féidir ár gcuid féin a dhéanamh le nasc níos doimhne a chruthú leis an nádúr.

In the final episode of the series, we focus on the environment and how some young people experience eco-anxiety that stems from climate change. We meet young activist Anna Kernahan and her friend Kay, who participate in a Fridays For Future School Strike in Belfast city centre.

Caoimhe attends an environmentalism lecture at Queen’s University in Belfast, led by Professor John Barry, who tells her about the worries and eco-anxiety his students have about the future of the planet. The father of one young student talks to Caoimhe about his concerns for his son’s future if nothing is done about climate change. Martha, a vegan living in Dublin, gives Caoimhe tips on how to shop more sustainably, and Aoife de Bhál, who works in the Bog Meadows, reminds us how we can all play our part and become more connected to nature.
