Words First: Poetry as Protest
The best emerging spoken word talent in the UK discuss their winning poems. The works respond to the word 鈥減rotest鈥, and what it means to the poets through their personal experiences, ally-ship and anti-racism.
Words First is a talent development scheme run by 麻豆社 Arts, Radio 1Xtra and the Contains Strong Language poetry festival. Each year it identifies spoken word talent in the UK and, through workshops and performance showcases, encourages the development of new work. These films with the Words First finalists centre on work around the 2020 theme of Protest.
