75th Anniversary of D-Day - A US veteran's story
PM is marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day, June 6th 1944, by hearing experiences of the Normandy landings.
The first in our series starts with an American. More than 34,000 soldiers from that country landed on Omaha beach, and among them was a young soldier named Jake Larson.
For 70 years, Jake refused to speak about his time in the war despite being awarded the Bronze medal and the Legion of Honour. But now aged 96 and the last surviving member of his unit, he’s returning to France to visit the graves of his fallen comrades. Emma Jane Kirby heard his story.
