Jason Mohammad: "Mo Salah is a wonderful example to young Muslims"
Jason Mohammad reflects on how Liverpool FC's super-striker is bringing communities together and inspiring young Muslims.
Speaking to the Rev Kate Bottley on 麻豆社 Radio 2's Good Morning Sunday Jason discusses how, as a young British Muslim and also a sports fan, he didn't see footballers openly talking about their faith, or praying on the pitch when he was growing up.
Mo Salah has been the subject of complimentary chants from football fans, using lyrics like "I'll be a Muslim too".
Jason says: "Given the problems that we have in Britain in terms of community cohesion with Islam and Muslims... you've got football fans, who have not had a great reputation in how they treat people from other countries... and here you have fans talking about sitting in a mosque."
