Soldiers to get check-ups before taking Lariam
The Ministry of Defence says it will ensure Lariam is only prescribed to military personnel after a detailed face-to-face medical check-up has taken place. This comes despite a call from MPs for it to only be used as a "last resort".
Victoria speaks to Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Marriott who has been living with the effects of Lariam since he took the drug when deployed to Sierra Leone in 2003, and Dr Julian Lewis, Conservative Chair of the group of senior MPs who have been looking into Lariam, and how it's prescribed.
