Victoria Cross, Football Finances & World Book Day

Almost two thousand people have now signed an online petition, opposing plans by a Leicestershier school to celebrate its Victoria Cross. The medal was given to Ashby School in the 1920s by the mother of former pupil - Lieutenant Colonel Phillip Bent. But last week there awas an angry reaction, after it was revealed the school was considering selling it to pay for a new sports pavilion. We hear what people in Ashby think.

Also, this season could be the greatest in Leicester City Football Club's history. And now it seems the mighty Foxes have plenty to boast about off the pitch as well. This morning the Club's revealed how it's had its most successful set of financial results in recent times. Here to tell us more is our reporter Mike McCarthy.

And, I'm sure lots of you have got well read, and well loved old books - but could they go to a better home? A local charity has teamed up with a major bookseller for today's World Book Day to raise money. All preloved books donated at branches of WH Smith will be sold through shops Age Uk's Leicestershire and Rutland shops. Loughborough MP, and Education secretary - Nicky Morgan - has launched the campaign. 麻豆社 Radio Leicester's Bridget Blair has been finding out more.
