Monica Winfield sits in alongside Jo to start your day with the latest news and updates.
"Life changing"
That's how the opening of a brand new multi-storey car park at the Leicester Royal Infirmary has been described by one health campaigner. For years parking at the city's busiest hospital has been a nightmare for patients and visitors. In fact, according to Leicester's Hospitals Chief Executive, it's the single biggest complaint he received. But now a new five-storey building with more than four-hundred extra spaces is hoped to make the familiar long queues which form outside the LRI a thing of the past. 麻豆社 Radio Leicester's Helen McCarthy is there for us.
Also, Leicester Riders started life at the brand new state of the art home, with a win over the Surrey Scorchers. The basketball team have been without a permanent base since the closure of Granby Halls. 麻豆社 Radio Leicester were live at Saturday's opening night.
And, the front pages this morning all feature Sir Terry Wogan. Tributes have been paid from broadcasters and fans alike since his death was announced yesterday. He was seventy-seven years old. A statement from his family said he had fought a short but brave battle with cancer. Wogan was one of the biggest stars on British radio and TV for decades and he helped raise hundreds of millions of pounds for children's charities. We hear from Newsreader and National Lottery announcer, Alan Dedicoat - dubbed by Sir Terry "Deadly Alancoat" and "the voice of the balls", as well as Professor Gordon Campbell, who was involved in the ceremony as Terry received the award of an Honorary Degree (Doctor of Laws) from the University of Leicester in 2010.
