Greek FM: Leaving the euro would be 'catastrophic'
The Greek Finance Minister Yaris Varoufakis told the 麻豆社鈥檚 Andrew Marr it would be 鈥渃atastrophic鈥 if Greece was forced to abandon the euro.
鈥淥nce you are in a monetary union, getting out of it would be catastrophic鈥 trying to get out of it is tantamount to announcing in advance a [currency] devaluation. It would be a disaster for everyone involved. It would be the beginning of the end of the common currency project in Europe.鈥
The interview began with Mr Marr asking Mr Yaris how long he thought it would be before Greece ran out of money.
On 5 June 2015 Greece will have to start repaying 1.5bn euros (拢1.1bn) back to the International Monetary Fund at a time when its public sector is already close to collapse.
