First-past-the-post

A first-past-the-post voting system is explained using an analogy of ordering food at a pizza restaurant. A group of friends make their individual choices from the menu, but everyone is then served the most popular pizza topping. A graphic then shows how the seats of the Commons are divided between the political parties following the 2005 General Election, and what would happen if MPs were elected by proportional representation instead.
