Jonathan Dimbleby meets Chile's premium wine exporters
Jonathan Dimbleby fiies into the Montes family vineyard in Chile's Colchagua valley where twenty years ago, Aurelio Montes Senior first planted grapes on the slopes of these Andean foothills. Jonathan harvests grapes with the workers before visiting the state of the art fermentation plant, including a special chamber where wine barrels are serenaded by Gregorian chants. Chile's wine export industry is now worth an astonishing 1.7 billion dollars a year, just one element of an export driven economy which is setting the pace for the rest of South America to follow.
