Manatee magic
A young rescued amazonian manatee has been brought to a lake ready to be released back into the wild. He will stay in a small pen for a short while, to acclimatise to the new waters and environment. Local school children have been invited to come and watch and are encouraged to visit the manatee and learn more about them. It's hoped that this might encourage future generations to cherish the manatees rather than hunt them and to take this interest back to their villages and families. The manatee is also radio tagged so the rescuers can help ensure he doesn't fall prey to hunters in the future.
