Red-crowned cranes
The key to a great film sequence is getting the light right. By day six, the routine of a sweaty pre-dawn yomp across icy reed stubble carrying heavy camera gear followed by a long chilly wait had begun to pall... until the cranes began to call and the sun finally rose up through the mist, lending the scene a wonderfully magical light.
