Elizabeth Alker with the best performances by 鶹 orchestras and performing groups from Europe and around the globe, including Sibelius’ 7th Symphony and Nielsen's Pan and Syrinx.
Elizabeth Alker showcases the best performances by 鶹 orchestras as well as soloists, choirs and ensembles from Europe and around the globe.
This week there’s a Nordic feel to the afternoons, including venues, composers and performers from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Finnish conductor Mikko Franck and the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra end the week of Sibelius performances with his final symphony – No.7. There’s also Mozart and Cimarosa from Icelandic pianist Vikingur Ólafsson, Bruch’s much-loved Kol Nidrei from Swedish cellist Andreas Brantelid, and Norwegian violinist Johan Dalene plays music by Christian Sinding.
You can also hear the last of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons from recorder-player Erik Bosgraaf and the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra, recorded at last autumn’s London International Festival of Early Music.
