Brahms Piano Quartets at Wigmore Hall
Live at Wigmore Hall, the Pavel Haas Quartet is joined by Boris Giltburg to perform Brahms's Piano Quartet No 2 in A and Piano Quartet No 1 in G minor.
Live at Wigmore Hall, the Pavel Haas Quartet and pianist Boris Giltburg combine forces to perform two cornerstones of the Romantic chamber music repertoire.
Brahms's First Piano Quartet is famous for its symphonic scale and exuberant 'Rondo alla Zingarese' finale. The more poised and lyrical Second Piano Quartet has perhaps been overshadowed by its more fiery predecessor. But it's on an even grander scale and includes one of Brahms's most wonderful slow movements.
Introduced by Ian Skelly.
