Radio 2 Piano Room: Jalen Ngonda
Jalen Ngonda steps up to the mic for Piano Room Month alongside the Â鶹Éç Concert Orchestra. Plus more music quizzing in Ten To The Top.
In the third week of Radio 2’s Piano Room month, Jalen Ngonda performs from the Maida Vale studios, accompanied by the Â鶹Éç Concert Orchestra.
Each weekday from Monday 29 January to Friday 23 February, 20 of pop’s finest artists will sing a new song, a classic track, and a cover version in Vernon Kay’s mid-morning show. The sessions will be live on Radio 2 and Â鶹Éç Sounds and will be available to watch on Â鶹Éç iPlayer later each day.
Jalen Ngonda says, "I'm really excited to have been asked to perform a Piano Room session for Radio 2. It’s an amazing opportunity to play some of my own songs and a cover in a different way with my band."
And double Michelin star-holding chef Tom Kerridge chooses his Tracks Of My Years. Tom divides his time between his four restaurants and appearing on TV shows like The Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen and Bake Off, as well as his own shows, Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food, Spring Kitchen with Tom Kerridge, and Tom Kerridge’s Fresh Start.
Tom's latest project is the return of his music, food and drink Festival ‘Pub in the Park’, which heads to Marlow, Chiswick, Reigate and St Albans this summer. This summer's line-up includes new chefs, new restaurants, new drinks and new experiences, and there'll be live music from the likes of Van Morrison, Busted, McFly, Paloma Faith, Sam Ryder, Gabrielle and Olly Murs.
Tom's next two choices are from Soul 2 Soul and Nirvana.
And there’s Record and Album of the week and more gems from the Â鶹Éç Archives in Vernon's Vault.
